exec EBADF on macOS Sequoia — all spawn calls fail
Environment:
• macOS 15.6 Sequoia (arm64, Mac mini M4)
• Node 22.22.0 (also tested 25.5.0)
• Clawdbot 2026.1.24-3 (npm install)
Problem:
Every exec call fails with spawn EBADF (errno=-9). Browser tool also fails (same error).
Key finding:
Direct Node.js spawn works fine:
node -e "require('child_process').spawn('ls', [], {stdio: 'inherit'})"
Clawdbot exec always fails.
Tested:
• Machine reboot: still fails
• Node 25 → 22: still fails
• Reinstall clawdbot under nvm: still fails
• LaunchAgent reinstall: still fails
• Gateway restart: still fails
• New session: still fails
Logs:
[exec] spawn failed (spawn EBADF syscall=spawn errno=-9); retrying with no-detach.
[tools] exec failed: spawn EBADF
The no-detach fallback also fails.
