Bug: Infinite iMessage Echo Loop draining $5.50 API credits in 1 hour
Hi, I'm using OpenClaw on a Mac mini and encountered a critical issue where the bot entered an infinite loop, draining my entire Anthropic credit balance within an hour.
The Problem:
1. Message Echoing: When I sent a message via my phone number, the bot started "echoing" the message back to me repeatedly.
2. Synced Identity Issue: I had both my phone number and email (jmk1201@naver.com) synced in iMessage. Even though I tried to use only the phone number, the bot seemed to reply to its own outgoing messages, creating a loop.
3. High Latency: Each echoed response had about a 2-minute delay, making it harder to catch the loop immediately.
4. Full Credit Drain: This loop consumed my entire $5.50 credit in less than 60 minutes. I am now seeing: LLM request rejected: Your credit balance is too low.
Steps Taken:
• I have already stopped the gateway and cleared session files.
• I am trying to use channels.patch to disable the email contact, but the bot still defaulted to it previously.
Questions:
• How do I strictly prevent the bot from responding to its own sent messages (Self-echo)?
• Is there a way to force the bot to ignore specific synced iMessage aliases permanently?
• Could this be a logic error in how session-memory or the iMessage provider handles synced contacts?
I’ve attached my logs showing the rapid delivered reply repetitions. Any help to prevent this before I recharge my credits would be appreciated.
