Working with mastra without New Mastra() object and without mastra server

Is this an anti pattern? Is this something possible when it comes to persistency and storage?
I want to just use mastra workflows + mastra ai agents. I do not want to use mastra server + not use mastra.getWorkflowById().
Will storage and persistency and logging and observability work? (i will define on-the-fly a mastra object for each time i run the workflow).
The main question here is can each @mastra package work standalone without the other ones?
