Is Multiplayer on the same network possible?

Me and my wife both want to play together so I was wondering if there is a set up to have her join a server I host? would she just need the mushroom launcher with the correct IP, port and password? We live together so we would be using the same router but we could also plug our pcs into each other like you would for LAN.
