Sub-agents no exec
Here's a concise issue report you can share with OpenClaw support/Discord:
Sub-agents spawned via sessions_spawn only receive read and write tools — exec is missing.
Setup: OpenClaw v2026.2.2-3, main agent is anthropic/claude-opus-4-6 with full tool access (read, write, exec, browser, sessions_spawn).
Problem: When the main agent spawns sub-agents using sessions_spawn, those sub-agents only have read and write tools available. The exec tool is not injected, regardless of the model used.
Tested models (all same result — no exec):
• groq/llama-3.3-70b-versatile
• cerebras/llama3.1-8b
• mistral/ministral-8b-latest
• opencode/glm-5-free
• opencode/minimax-m2.5-free
Test prompt used:
You are a test agent. Use the exec tool to run: echo "TOOLS_WORK". Then reply with the output. Write results to /tmp/test-output.txt
Result: All 5 models confirmed they only see read and write. No exec, no browser. Multiple models explicitly stated: "exec tool is not available in this session."
Expected: Sub-agents should inherit the same tool set as the parent agent (or at least include exec).
Question: Is there a config setting to grant exec access to spawned sub-agent sessions? Or is this an intentional restriction?
