Are the videos REALLY corrupted?

I'm not understanding how to even investigate this problem. I have a number of videos (mostly in the past year or so) which are showing corrupted. This is frustrating as for most of them when they got uploaded they were fine (recently this isn't true). I could play them in the web interface and no issues. Then time passed (no idea how much or how many versions changed) and suddenly the videos were corrupted. Lately videos uploaded are just simply corrupt according to the web interface. On the phone app (the source) the videos are fine.
At one point I had created a gallery of broken videos so I could track them and see about re-uploading. One thing that was bizarre was at some point (some more time passed?) and they weren't corrupt any more (I have not touched them so far for fear of losing data). And now they are all corrupt again and new (recent) videos are coming up corrupt as soon as they're uploaded. Still fine on the phone.
Would really like a "re-upload this from the source" function (if they are really corrupted) (as mentioned in this thread "Video corruption seems to happen an awful lot?").
any suggestions as to how to further investigate would be appreciated.
