how do I assign different models to different agents?

Set the global default model under agents.defaults.model, then override per-agent with agents.list[].model.
1) Global default (applies to any agent that doesn’t override)
In openclaw.json:

3) Don’t forget: auth is per-agent
Each agent has its own auth store (agentDir), so “model X works for manager” doesn’t automatically mean “model X works for ops”.
Useful checks:
openclaw models status --agent manager
openclaw models status --agent ops
4) Restart after config change
openclaw gateway restart
