Is there a way to get (subagent) session status?

I‘ve found that for actual background work, I need to order my bot to spawn a subagent on a specific task (e.g. research topic ‚x‘, implement a new feature for dashboard). This is only my 2nd try but it seems so far that theese sub agents always stop somehow (maybe run into an error or waiting for feedbuck but I can‘t give them any because I don‘t see their output -maybe I also have a bad workflow/process design here/don‘t use the functionality as intended?) . And my main agent told me, that he only gets a response from them subagents, if they finish their task (I am not sure if he is right though, as he also used to ignore standard openclaw ways to do something [e.g. i asked him if I could receive a TTS attachment with every telegram message - I wasn‘t aware that there is a standard predefined way to to that in openclaw, and I basically would‘ve only had to set a config parameter. However, my bot seemingly didn‘t know as well and just straight up suggested and build a custom implementation. Therefore I am not sure if he is right here as well?] maybe also have any idea on how I can workaround that issue on a side not as well?).
So now the main issue is that I can‘t get to know if the subagents still working or if they e.g. ran into an error (if yes, how to solve it?) or wait for a response and I wanna know if there is a standard way to get track or this or if not, what would be the best way to do it?

Solution

Sub-agents are intentionally “fire-and-forget”: the main agent generally only gets a final announce when the sub-agent finishes. So your main agent wasn’t totally wrong — but OpenClaw does have standard ways to check progress / errors while it’s running.
