sessions_spawn fails with device token mismatch
Issue: sessions_spawn fails with device token mismatch
Running OpenClaw 2026.2.21-2 on macOS (arm64, Mac Mini). Every call to sessions_spawn fails with:
What I know so far:
- The main gateway auth token (in openclaw.json) is fine โ the gateway is running and webchat sessions connect normally
- The failure is specific to the embedded vdev token that sub-agent spawning uses
- openclaw devices rotate does NOT fix it โ that's a different token layer
- The only workaround I've found is starting a new chat session, but the new session hits the same issue immediately
What may have triggered it:
- Possibly a direct edit to openclaw.json while a session was active (gateway hot-reload invalidates the vdev token)
- Possibly related to GitHub issues #21267 or #21445 (subagent spawn failing after 2026.2.19-2 update)
Question: Is there a way to force the vdev token to re-negotiate without ending the session? Or a way to clear/reset the device pairing table so it re-registers cleanly on next session start?
Gateway is running as a system LaunchDaemon (/Library/LaunchDaemons/ai.openclaw.gateway.plist), not a user LaunchAgent.
