Gateway connect failed: Error: Pairing Required

I've done a standard install on a VPS, and haven't done anything major to modify the platform yet. I've done researched and tried doing other troubleshooting steps, but can't resolve this error.

If I run openclaw devices list, I get the following:

Solution

Nice — version mismatches can absolutely show up as weird “pairing required” loops.

If you’ve got a sec, can you paste:
-

openclaw --version

openclaw --version

before (if you noted it) and after
- how you updated (npm global / from source / Docker image tag)

That’ll help the next person who hits the same symptom.
