OpenClaw Discord server channels not sharing memory with local/Telegram (works in Discord DMs)
I’m having a memory sync issue between my OpenClaw instances and could use help troubleshooting.
My OpenClaw is installed locally on my Mac mini, and it works perfectly when accessed locally and through Telegram. It remembers everything and uses my existing memory and setup correctly.
On Discord, it also works correctly in direct messages (DMs). In DMs it remembers things and behaves exactly how I expect.
However, when I use it inside a Discord server, it behaves like a completely new agent with no memory or context. It says things like the USER.md file is empty or not accessible and doesn’t recognize anything about me, even though Telegram, local access, and Discord DMs all work fine.
So:
* Local gateway: works perfectly
* Telegram: works perfectly
* Discord DMs: works perfectly
* Discord server channels: acts like a brand new bot with no memory
From what I can tell, the server version of the Discord bot seems to be connecting to a different memory location, workspace, or instance than the one running locally on my Mac mini.
Current setup:
* OpenClaw installed locally on Mac mini
* Memory stored locally (file-based, USER.md)
* Telegram connected and working
* Discord connected
* Works in Discord DMs
* Does NOT remember anything inside Discord servers
What I’m trying to achieve:
I want OpenClaw to use the same memory and knowledge everywhere (local, Telegram, Discord DMs, and Discord servers).
What I need help with:
How to make my Discord server instance use the same memory/backend as my local Mac mini instance so it doesn’t behave like a fresh agent inside servers.
