xml calls streamed to telegram
Main agent emitting raw <function_calls> XML as text instead of executing tools (Sonnet 4.6)
After switching main agent model from Codex back to anthropic/claude-sonnet-4-6, the Telegram DM session outputs literal
<function_calls><invoke name="browser">... blocks as visible text instead of structured tool_use calls.
What I've tried:
- /new session reset (multiple times)
- openclaw restart
- Verified openclaw config validate passes
- Verified openclaw models status --agent main --json resolves to anthropic/claude-sonnet-4-6
- Agent has tools: { profile: "coding", allow: ["group:messaging", "browser"] }
- Cleaned auth-profiles.json so lastGood only points to anthropic:cc
- Codex OAuth creds still present but not in lastGood
Transcript evidence:
- Older Opus sessions show normal structured toolCall/toolResult pairs
- All new Sonnet sessions show raw XML text in assistant replies
Suspicion: After having openai-codex configured as the active model/provider, something in the runtime is persisting the XML
tool-call format even after switching back to Anthropic. New sessions still reproduce it.
