How to make sure cron jobs don't consistently fail

I seem to have constant issues with cron jobs failing. I've setup daily morning briefings, and they just dint seem to happen. I have to reaming my discord agent almost everytime.

Solution
Cron jobs are only as reliable as your Gateway uptime + delivery config.
From the docs: cron runs inside the Gateway process. If your Gateway isn’t running continuously (laptop sleep, restarts, service not actually running), scheduled jobs simply won’t fire. Docs: https://docs.openclaw.ai/help/faq#cron-or-reminders-do-not-fire-what-should-i-check
- If you’re hosting on a laptop: sleep/hibernation will break cron. Prefer a VPS or an always-on machine.
- Check service health:

- Cron can be disabled via config (

If your briefing is set up as a main session cron (system event), it depends on heartbeat timing/quiet-hours/etc. For a daily briefing you usually want isolated + announce delivery so it runs independently and posts the result.

Make it stop “randomly not happening” (most common causes)
1) Make sure the Gateway is truly up 24/7- If you’re hosting on a laptop: sleep/hibernation will break cron. Prefer a VPS or an always-on machine.
