Credentials not working after updating to 3.7.0

after updating to 3.7.0 it doesnt seem to read the .env file. When prompted for login, its saying that i have to configure credentials. When reverting back to 3.6.0 it reads the .env file where the github credentials are and im able to login. how to fix to be able to use 3.7.0?...
