Question about ranked buddy

Hey guys, I've had this question for a while. I am plat in all 3 acts of the current episode, but I haven't hit 9 wins in any of them. Do you have to get at least 9 wins in any of the 3 acts (starting of the triangle) to get a buddy at the start of the new episode? Or will I still get it if I for example hit diamond now, and not complete the 9 wins for the first triangle. Thanks
