How do you completely uninstall Heroic?
I am on Arch and since attempting to install Star War Squadrons, All my games have stopped working. Looks like heroic is always to using /home/<userid>/.wine as a prefix on all games. I have tried resetting heroic with no success. So now I'd like to remove everything. I realize this will delete all games & saves - that is a pita but not earth shattering. Then the question becomes, 2.4.3, beta3 or flatpak?

eg. its easy to uninstall with pacman. Where else other than ~/Games/Heroic are config/files stored?

do you have all your games using the same
~/.wine
folder as the prefix? heroic should use a prefix per game by default to not mess other games
if you want to uninstall heroic it depends on how you installed it (flatpak? uninstall it using flatpak, appimage? delete the file, package manager? uninstall it from there), then you can delete heroic's and legendary's config at ~/.config/heroic
and ~/.config/legendary
you can't undo whatever happened in ~/.wine
, make sure to use one prefix per game, it gives you that option in the install dialog of a gamepassive-yellowOP•3y ago
It was doing that (prefix per game). Now its not and is using the wrong prefix for games, which is why I want to 100% remove it including all Games/config file files, where ever they hide (I could strace to find them but that would be a real PITA to parse so I figured I'd ask here)
How are prefixes created? There should only be one program in .wine and I can afford to reinstall it, so I'll probably rename .wine too.
And when, reinstalling what to you recommend 2.4.3, beta3 or flatpak and why?
(thanks for the .config/{heroic|legendary} info)

since its heroic's default behavior to use a different prefix per game, an option must have been misconfigured that caused it to install everything to the .wine prefix would be my guess.
ive just been using latest heroic beta and its been fine for me

Quite probably. I have reset everything (including games - only two are large) and installed beta3. Will know if it helps in another couple of hours. (Installing games is the one use case that make me I wish I had fibre...)

on the up side, once you've got the games installed.. you probably dont have to delete them next time you remove heroic to reinstall it

One thing I notice with beta3 is that in seems to download & install at the same time - is this expected? (the bar is now jumping between 5% and 17%). If its expected it would make more sense to have two bars.
I've had that happen to me once, but after that was never able to reproduce this
I'd recommend to quit Heroic & re-start it, what you're seeing there is it actually running the install 2 times

Third time its happened here.
Interesting
What exactly are you doing after installing the game?

suspect that visting the downloads tab has something to do with it
restarted an now it seems to be resyncing the download
its a bit wierd, on the library tab, the icon shows 'installing 4.72%' the bar on the lower left shows 'Installing 10%'

First question? Have you installed a wine version? For me it sounds you only have the default wine version installed
We offer wine-ge and if selected heroic will create a prefix for each game

I am aware of the differing wine versions. Cyberpunk works well with GE-Proton-41, The newly released Saints Rows worked only with Wine-staging, except the game had a new patch (1.2 I think) - now it refuses to start no mater what wine version / (dx11/dx12/vulcan) selected. Its getting:
fixme:system:NtUserSystemParametersInfo Unimplemented action: 59 (SPI_SETSTICKYKEYS) With wine staging the launcher gets the error, with other versions it just stalls. Also with Beta3 heroic refused to let me download wine versions reporting 'Could not fetch wine/proton versions at this time'
