Can't run VtMB with the Unofficial Plus Patch, please help!
I've been trying to install and run VtMB all day. I have it on my GOG account and I'm on PopOS so that complicated things. I tried Lutris but that was a dud, so I tried Heroic. Plus side: I actually managed to install the game. Problem is every time I run it, it says it couldn't start the Launcher dll and that "Module not found".

try without this
-game Unofficial_Patch, and try with Wine-GE-Proton instead of Proton-GE, any reason you are doing an exe override to that Vampire.exe file?exotic-emeraldOP•3y ago
I was basically trying anything I could think of
I also read online that apparently the game doesn't like newer versions of wine or proton so I tried using an older version
hey so I did all that and now the game doesn't even register as having started. The launcher says it has for a couple seconds, then it crashes

also, after changing from Proton-GE to Wine-GE-Proton is a good idea to delete the prefix folder from your disk because they use different folders (you should backup your saves if you have any), the thing is that proton/proton-ge is meant to be used in steam, it can work in heroic too but the logs when using proton are not really useful

i think the game itself adds it cos the game can't run without the unofficial patch

from what I see in the lutris script, you might need to install d3dx9_43 and wmp10 using winetricks https://lutris.net/games/install/31111/view

you can go to the game's settings in heroic, there's a button Winetricks, click that > default prefix > install app/dll > pick those things > accept

also I added both the game's exe and the loader exe to winecfg and it's back to not reading the dll
yeah, i guess that's the only option left
okay i did all that
the error window that reads "Failed to load the launcher DLL. Module not found" is still happening
do i just type in the no loader command in the settings?

I don't know, you can try, it's not in the lutris script
I don't own the game to try, based on the lutris script just installing those extra things with winetricks should be enough so I don't know, maybe somebody else has this game and can help you
