didnt touch the anticheat files, but i launched it without the battleye runtime by accident (just now realized), and i used the eac launcher exe instead of the standard one or the battleye one. it does not seem to be working anymore however, which leads me to beleive something shady was going on then that i forgot about or smth

as of the latest update i have been unable to get past "connecting..."
could be anti-cheat, although i havent seen anything in logs to suggest that, and they typically crash

your wine version is really old, that error shouldn't happen anymore
I think it was fixed before wine 7.0 released
and that released a whole ass year ago
In fact when I tried this game on wine 6.1, I didn't get that issue (back in 2021)

It's not going to work.
It's unfortunate that Epic has done that. You can view the FAQ to see Tim Sweeney's (the owner of Epix Games) tweet saying that Fortnite won't support Linux. There's no real technical limitations afaik, but he's made a decision and so it won't work due to the anticheat.

It's really a bummer. Why is he so convinced their anti-cheat isn't good in user-mode? There are other big games with the exact same anti-cheat systems on Linux with Wine/Proton and they didn't have a noticeable increase in cheaters. Additionally, Fortnite seems to have quite a big cheater problem anyway, with all the other platforms like Windows or the consoles. I think this is just exaggeration. I also have left some feedback on this in the official German Fortnite Discord server. I'm not sure whether they'll really see it or think about what I've said.
