Some PETG prints to work on improving

This is a part i print a lot off. Usually on-a prusa mini. I am trying to tune up my ratrig so i cam start printing them on it. I did this print with bed temp at 90c speed for perimeters was 100mms and its slightly under extruded. Hottend temp was 235

The lower part is probably too little cooling. Did you tune pressure advance and the extrusion multiplier (according to Andrew Ellis)? Looks like the artifacts start in pretty much the same distance after retracts/corners

No i did not. Ill have to look up this method. Is it documented on youtube or github. I hope not github.

It’s quite a good guide on https://ellis3dp.com/Print-Tuning-Guide/

Flow are just some patches with different extrusion multipliers and pa is a pattern. Or @heisenberg19x did post a cube a while ago here on discord (for pressure advance). You would have to loo it up

Discord search function sucks so here it is, if you want to use it. Print it with 3 Perimeters, 2-3 Bottom Layer, 0 Top Layers, 0% Infill, with the Perimeter Speed you want to use, remember to disable the Layer time Goals then in case your Print is slower than it should be, place the Seam in the middle of a straight wall. Just Slice it once and then play around with the PA Values until the Perimeters are completely closed and have no gaps in the Corners and all Corners are sharp.

I've been printing more petg lately after struggling with it for quite a long time... I use eSun petg and typically print warmer than that... 240 minimum, 245, even 250... What hot end are you using? It may just be the pics but those surfaces look very matte for petg - usually prints very glossy... Might suggest that you need more temp... I'd be happy to try that print and send you my settings if it looks good

Thanks I am using 235. which is as high as i can go. Right now I am using a dragon Hottened. Standard flow. it only has a 40w heater in it so I cant go over 235. I have a 70w on the way. Also a Phaetus Rapido Plus Hotend in the mail should be here this week too.

Be happy to. Here is my STL.

Another issue I should make everyone aware of is that my part cooling fan has only one speed. All the way on or all the way off. So this complicates some things.

You should fix that

Yes I know 🙂 I have the original Ratrig fan on the way. Hope its here soon. With that I was able to get variable RPM..

Looks like ill have to wait till i get a proper heating element. He says in the guid not to bother until you have the right ones.

I'll try to get this on the printer tonight or tomorrow morning... Definitely sounds like some upgrades are in order to get good results... I think you'll love the rapido - I know I love mine

Here's a sample with my default petg settings... Not the best but at least shows that you can definitely improve over what you have now

Really nice. What layer height? Now when you say default what slicer are you using?

Superslicer... That's 0.3 layer height w 0.4 nozzle The model is a little quirky... Seems multiple bodies in it when the slicer does its thing... Prints ok though

It is actually two halves. I usually space them out some when printing.
