I've been getting the same issue for the past two days on every game I've tried to play on many different versions of Wine-GE. All GOG games on Ubuntu 22.04, if that has any baring. Had the same issues with Lutris and GOG. I could install them no problem, but after the first time I manage to launch a game subsequent tries always fail to launch. Considering the amount of "Won't Launch" questions in the last number days, something must be going on.

@Merlin your problem seems to be different, I'd suggest to create a new thread for that @Leonardo have you checked the pinned message in #🆘-support check if you have all your wine dependencies installed

I figured out the problem. I didnt have Wine installed on my computer. I wasn't aware that Wine was a requirement for Heroic to function. Granted, I didn't look very hard to see if there were requirements I needed to pre-install for it to work. I just thought it worked. Though one game still refuses to launch, but it turns out that it's borked by default, requiring D3Dx9_29.dll and needing to open a .bat file in Task Manager? to run at all, and thats if you bought it through Steam. And I've no idea how to go about installing or running those on Linux (newbie to the OS) It's an older game, so it's not particularly surprising.

it doesnt directly depend on wine, but installing wine often installs missing dependencies... suggest you check the wine dependencies linked in the readme first post

I've tried over 400 games from epic+gog over the last month, most worked out of the box (around 85%), from the rest, 10% worked with a few tweaks (usually just go to settings > winetricks > install something), the 5% left I have to try harder (some seem to work for other people so maybe it's just me missing something, some just don't work yet) but what I mean is: most games should work fine if you have wine setup properly, updated drivers, etc, for special cases you can always ask here

It's more more to do with the game than with any specific process. On ProtonDB it's listed as Borked by many who try to use it due to a runtime error (even I got them when trying to launch through Heroic) and those who got it working had to install specific things (dot net 2 and the D3d9_29.dll file, which I believe Wine seems to take care of dot net 2 at least) and then use Protontricks to launch a .bat file within the game's files. The other games in my library seem to load up now that I installed Wine onto my computer, so one game out of the library being unable to be played via Linux isn't all that bad in the grand scheme of things.

I ran the command from terminal, and now instead of crashing right away, it remains perpetually in black screen, and after a few seconds the music starts to play, but only that

@Leonardo you have to share new logs after doing changes

I don't really know what to say here This issue isn't gonna fix itself You'll have to install GPU drivers for it to not use software rendering

After (I assume) installing all GPU drivers, the situation is as follows:

You're still using llvmpipe there https://github.com/lutris/docs/blob/master/InstallingDrivers.md#amd--intel will walk you through installing drivers

I ran the command and the situation remained unchanged.

You've rebooted afterwards?
Reboot to apply changes.
Actually, this is still the exact same log file. The timestamp didn't change
