Celeste from Epic Games Store Will Not Launch
Other games seem to launch fine with Heroic, but Celeste looks like it's starting and then just doesn't start.

Log:
Something is very wrong with your Wineprefix. Try deleting it

Celeste was in need of an env var iirc.
Something something fna3d GL
Yup, they've already added that
dependent-tan•3y ago
Ah, k. Didn't check the log, my bad 🐸

I deleted my Wineprefix and launched the game again. Had the same issue
constant-blue•3y ago
Yeah your wine prefix has brain cancer
You probably need to install 32bit libraries on your host
Aka multilib/multiarch
xenial-blackOP•3y ago
Which ones?
constant-blue•3y ago
Idk man
xenial-blackOP•3y ago
I have multilib enabled already
constant-blue•3y ago
Are you on arch?
xenial-blackOP•3y ago
yeah
constant-blue•3y ago
Hmmm
You should be fine then
Try wine staging
Or install it
In fact
Just install any version of wine in multilib
xenial-blackOP•3y ago
Okay, just did
It doesn't seem to have fixed it
I deleted my wineprefix and relaunch again after doing that, and now it launches
I have no sound and my controller doesn't connect, but the game does indeed launch
All Wine Dependencies can be found at https://github.com/lutris/docs/blob/master/WineDependencies.md
Note that this link is also mentioned in the FAQ

Use wine staging, instead of GE
Both will get fixed
xenial-blackOP•3y ago
I fixed my controller not connecting by switching to proton, and I fixed the sound issues by installing 32 bit sound drivers
it's now working flawlessly
Thank you all for your help
constant-blue•3y ago
yeah I should probably stop assuming people have all the dependencies for wine already installed lol
Well the FAQ does tell you to follow that link. Not our fault if people don't read it lol
constant-blue•3y ago
either way I shouldn't assume it
I wish that some distros
give a pop up
saying install all this
xenial-blackOP•3y ago
I didn't even consider the possibility I didn't have the dependencies for wine because I've had it work on several other games, both on Steam and Heroic
constant-blue•3y ago
for gaming
and so many people will have way lesser issues
well most games aren't 32 bit anymore!
anyways
xenial-blackOP•3y ago
true
constant-blue•3y ago
you won't have to worry about this multilib stuff anymore
in about a year
xenial-blackOP•3y ago
Oh really?
Of the two dedicated "gaming" distros (SteamOS and Nobara), I believe both of those include them
constant-blue•3y ago
yep
xenial-blackOP•3y ago
What's changing?
constant-blue•3y ago
wow64 in wine
is changing
it's like windows wow64 now
a complete translation of 32 bit calls to 64 bit
xenial-blackOP•3y ago
Oh, nice
And that gets rid of all the 32 bit wine issues
constant-blue•3y ago
yeah
too bad it's basically unusable rn
Is that also what all the "Rewriting X library in PE format" is about?
constant-blue•3y ago
well PE was one step on the way I think
PE was mostly done for better compatibillity though
and to match windows behavior
I have to ask
I don't really touch the wow64 stuff or know much about it :/
ok so one wine dev says that it wasn't required
but it made things easier
ok another one agreed
