iPad mini terminal keyboard

I’ve gotten code-server and everything to work on my iPad Air. However, when I try to get my niece set up on her iPad mini, there is an issue with the terminal. All commands work and have the desired results (e.g. mkdir mydir makes a new directory as seen in the file explorer) but there is no output on the terminal screen. Neither keystrokes nor the commands’ output
