GOG Dead Space slow performance after initial launch
Hello,
I'm on Linux Mint 21.1.
I downloaded Dead Space from GOG. During the first run, it create the Prefix and runs the game with no issue. When I launch any subsequent time, its slow. After some troubleshooting, i found that deleting the prefix folder will work around the issue.
I've attached the Heroic General log and the Game log from the 1st play and 2nd.

You are missing GPU drivers
From this snipped of your system info
GPU1: GF116M [GeForce GT 555M/635M]
you need the R390
branch of Nvidia drivers. I cannot tell you how you'd go about installing these on Linux Mint; on Arch this is covered by the nvidia-390xx-dkms
package
Note that this driver is no longer supported by Nvidia. If this does not work, you're SOL
I'd also recommend upgrading to something newer than a 12-year-old GPU
On another note, you don't want DXVK/VKD3D-Proton enabled at all, as your GPU does not support Vulkan (again, the better option would really be to not use this hardware to begin with)exotic-emeraldOP•3y ago
Thank you for the response. I deleted the prefix folder and disabled auto install of dxvk and vkd3d and that seems to have done the trick. Dead Space and Fallout New Vegas are running well. I have GPU drivers installed. I have an optimus and am currently running it in power-saving Intel mode. This is an old machine, but i'm only trying to run old games. Thanks again!

Dxvk driver reqs are like this, games being old or new doesn't matter
So better keep dxvk and vkd3d disabled
