Firmware not flashing

I am very new to this so I appolgize if I do not explain my problem well. I have a Pi connected to my network I have downloaded the firmware-btt-octopus-11.bin file then changed the name to firmware.bin I installed the file on a SD card and restart the printer. The firmware.bin file on the SD card does not change to .CUR I get a Kippy error MCU unable to communicate I have the jumper removed and all wires unplugged from the board. What am I doing wrong or what should step should I take to fix this?

How did you format the SD card you used to flash the firmware? You can't move on until that completes

Yes I have been formating the SD card. I tried a smaller SD card and now the firmware is correct. but I am now getting an ERRORMCU 'mcu' shutdown: ADC out of range This generally occurs when a heater temperature exceeds OK I'm making progress.... I have a connector in the wrong location.
