Call of the Sea: Error on the main screen

The game turns on, up to the "press Enter" screen. After pressing enter, I get a window with title Error and content "error". On the first launch, there was a window asking to installation of something related to Unreal4, but it went successfully and didn't appear in the following launch.

ok looks like they updated the game after I tried (it didn't ask for authorization on thursday and you had to manually install vcrun2019) now something changed and the vcrun2019 installation prompt shows up and it needs the authorization try setting firefox as your default browser, that should allow a window to popup for you to authorize the game to connect to the epic servers if you don't have firefox or that doesn't fix the problem, try installing ie8 in the game prefix using Winetricks, that should make an ie8 window appear when you start the game

Yep, setting Firefox as default worked, thank you!

Wait, how can the browser change fix this? I'm seeing an issue on the main screen already. Are we talking about the same issue? Oh, I read the context in the related vc thread, I'll try changing the browser, thanks fwiw, changing the default browser to firefox didn't help for me, I'll try the other suggestion later ok, I can confirm this worked for me: 1. installing ie8 in the game prefix 2. retyping the address from the ie8 titlebar back to chrome 3. authorizing the app in epic store Thanks!
