thanks unzipping 1.6TB from takeout right now, fingers crossed follow up question. If I don't care about maintaining the Google Photos Albums is it ok to just manually consolidate everything into the photos by year folders and import directly via the webUI?

ok I was looking at CLI. I'm running Immich in docker compose on unraid, I see that Immich CLI can run in a docker container... would that be a new container specifically for Immich CLI I assume?

Yes indeed. You can just ssh into your server and use the command as explained in the docs

starting to notice files that don't have "date taken" in EXIF and "created" date is today. Guess I need to use the migration tool after all what about for running the mattwilson1024/google-photos-exif tool? I feel like I'm missing something on how to install and run it. I'm on Unraid, do I need to spin up a new VM or Container or can I run this directly on the host perhaps?

I don't think there's a container for that tool, so you'd need to run it on the host or in a vm
