Fall Guys - Missing Files Error After Update

i followed this guide "https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=exZ9T7eZlZ0" but didn't worked out so istead of craeating the link i tried using the deafult file present in that folder but still couldn't work so tried repairing but still the same error came.

whenever someone figures it out notes: Fall Guys last updated on Feb 21, and the EAC runtime was updated on Feb 8. I suspect that something has changed in the runtime that isn't playing nice and that the runtime hasn't been updated for Linux yet the EasyAntiCheat_Setup.exe has a different file size compared to the last game update

Paraphrasing the steps here: 1. Install the game, use Wine-GE-latest 2. Run <Fall Guys>/EpicOnlineServices/EpicOnlineServicesInstaller.exe in the prefix 3. Make sure DXVK, VKD3D, EAC Runtime (and Game Mode if using Flatpak) are enabled. 4. Run the game. Let the game install vcrun2022 for you 5. If you get a black window that attempts to install Epic Online Services, STOP THIS. If this completes, you will need to delete your prefix and start over.

Step 2 was selecting "Run exe on prefix" from game settings and selecting the file from the dialog. And while it doesn't output anything, it does write a log file to ~/Games/Heroic/Prefixes/Fall Guys/pfx/drive_c/ProgramData/Epic/EpicOnlineServices/EOSInstaller/Logs/EOSInstaller-XXXX.log if you want to confirm whether it completed or not

I didn't delete my prefix or reinstall. I just went through the steps I described above. I did end up running the EOS installer twice because the first time didn't provide any feedback/outputs the second time, I got the whole installer screen so maybe try that?

lemme see ill see which parts got left out of that reddit post. first i updated to latest heroic launcher version using the Proton GE that got released yesterday its either 8-3 or 8-5 upon first run, the Epic Installer automatically downloaded about 200 megs and installed something lost all my fall guys settings, such as windowed mode, volume settings etc. but still have all the essentials best of luck guys, glad it still works on linux

so I was able to get past the error and look at the main UI. let me run it one more time 😄 1. delete prefix 2. go straight to run exe in prefix and do the EOS installer. let it do its thing until the log file is populated 3. Enable EOS Overlay in ... menu (EAC runtime and all that already set in Heroic settings) 4. run game (already set to RunFallGuys.exe) 5. Install vcrun2022 as automatically prompted 6. load up and go. attempted to start a new game and got to "Match found" and quit immediately good luck @OOOOOF123

if it helps, I tried these steps and it worked fine, linux mint desktop, non-flatpak (just running heroic from source), wine-ge-proton7-43 after installing vcrun2022 when prompted then it installed some more stuff about the EOS before launching the game I had the game uninstalled so it was a clean new prefix too

Im not really sure what to say guys. Ive had this issue on my SteamOS (HoloISO) box, Steamdeck and main Arch workstation. Following the directions in that steamdeck forum got me up. Only other thing I did was update the client.ini to point to the older exe

Here's the exact steps I took on all 3 systems: 1. Update to latest version of the game. 2. Verified Files 3. Set 'Run EXE on Prefix' to the EpicOnlineServicesInstaller.exe located in ~/Games/Heroic/Fall\ Guys/EpicOnlineServices/ 4. Set 'Alternative EXE to Run' as RunFallGuys.exe 5. Change the FallGuys_client.ini file to point to FallGuys_client_game.exe instead of whatever the update changed it to. Once those steps are done, I ran the game which installed vcrun2022 (Prompted) and then the EOS installer. Fired right up after that.

😦 Sorry man IDK; the black screen on the HoloISO machine didnt work until I changed it , but 🤷‍♂️ Oh, I got a strange crash with GE-Wine-8-5 ; moved back to GE-Wine-7-43 and no more crashes. Didnt have any effect on this issue tho. The recommendation to run GE-LATEST doesnt seem to do anything

Its a mixed bag. I get slightly better performance in several games with the optimizations we wouldnt bother with on a desktop or workstation, but... also get some intermittent instability. Normally tho not with WINE since thats basically what its built to do. And its a console so 🤷‍♂️

IDK man, thats weird. Ive played probably 100hrs of fall guys over the last year or so after it went F2P and not seen those types of issues. Runs on the mobile 6650XT / 6900XT and 6950XT without issue.

I have literally not had this many issues with any game And in fact I get farther with Fortnite on linux I have never had a gpu reset with Fortnite on Linux for example even with dx12 I get kicked by the anti cheat but that's another issue Or even halo infinite I don't get hangs in that game either Just butter smooth 75 fps with rt on

I think that you should delete home/$USER/Heroic/FallGuys, home/$USER/Heroic/Prefixes and /home/$USER/.config/Heroic before other things in guides. This should fix the problem. Can you also tell me which Heroic Games Launcher version do you have? If you have Heroic v2.7.1, Fall Guys should work properly. But if you have Heroic 2.5.0 or earlier, you have to do some more steps.

I heared that one guy had the same problem, but after looking at logs he found that Vulkan driver wasn't installed correctly and after reistalling Vulkan Fall Guys worked fine. Try it.

@DragoSpiro98 in your Proton-GE log everything seems fine until last 3 lines. It means that Steam isn't detected by Legendary and Heroic can't connect your Heroic account and Steam account. Make sure that Steam is installed on your PC. Also check is Heroic correctly installed and connected to your Steam account. If you did that let me know.

OK. You said that Steam is correctly installed on your PC, so check is Steam actually connected to Heroic by typing 'echo $STEAM_COMPAT_CLIENT_INSTALL_PATH' and 'echo $STEAM_COMPAT_DATA_PATH'. If it's correctly connected you will see the paths to these variables.

Type 'export STEAM_COMPAT_CLIENT_INSTALL_PATH=/home/$USER/.local/share/Steam' if you have this directory. And also type 'export STEAM_COMPAT_DATA_PATH=/home/$USER/Games/Heroic/Prefixes/default/Fall\ Guys/'. Then once again check are the paths visible by typing 'echo $STEAM_COMPAT_CLIENT_INSTALL_PATH' and 'echo $STEAM_COMPAT_DATA_PATH'.

Assuming you're typing this into a regular terminal: This is incorrect Heroic sets those paths itself, you don't have to do anything The error in @DragoSpiro98's Proton log is normal, Proton expects to be ran inside Steam (but it of course isn't)

The best idea is to remove Fall Guys, update your system and once again install Fall Guys just like in my video, but this time download Microsoft Visual C++ from this link: https://epicgames-download1.akamaized.net/Builds/EOS/EOSH/Installers/EpicOnlineServicesInstaller-1.2.2.0.exe and select it in RUN EXE ON PREFIX.

ok @DragoSpiro98 I exploited your legendary log more carefully and I found that in 43rd line you have "game_executable": "RunFallGuys.exe", but I have "game_executable": "FallGuys_client_game.exe" and for me it works. Now I am trying to discover how to change your path to look the same as mine. Maybe @CommandMC knows? I meant like in your Proton-GE log there is Legendary config area and there it is.

You have to use RunFallGuys.exe, as that'll install necessary dependencies like VCRuntime & EOS It might be possible to change the EXE to FallGuys_client_game.exe once those are installed, but I haven't tried that

Then try launching Fall Guys again.

Oh, the section name you gave ([FallGuys]) also isn't right; meaning Legendary won't even look at any of those settings

For everyone having the problem also after all the tutorials online (and in this channel), you can try to cancel the second update of EOS. If you already installed the game with Heroic try this: 1) Go to the Heroic prefix folder (usually, ~/Games/Heroic/Prefixes/default) and delate the Fall Guys folder 2) Run the game with Wine-GE to create the new prefix, the problem remains, close the game. 3) In Heroic, click on Fall Guys, click on the settings button, and click on "RUN EXE ON PREFIX", go to EpicOnlineServices and run EpicOnlineServicesInstaller.exe. Wait some seconds, if you want sure, go to ~/Games/Heroic/Prefixes/default/Fall Guys/drive_c/ProgramData/Epic/EpicOnlineServices/EOSInstaller/Logs and check if the file EOSInstaller-XXXXXX.log it's filled 4) Start the game, EOS Installer will pop up, wait the first update (around 140MB), after this update there is a second update (around 87MB), click on cancel in this second update of EOS Installer, the game will startup and the problem should be fixed. This is the only workaround that worked for me, I don't know if you can do something to permanently stop this second update.
