Inductive probe suddenly triggers at a mere ~2mm
Yesterday, the bed has crushed the heat-break and it turned out that the probe triggering distance is at around 2mm now, when previously it was at least 15mm.
Is there any reason for the probe to change the triggering distance? Any way to fix it?

15mm is impossible
Rated operating distance sn 2.5 mm
Assured operating distance sa 0 ... 2.03 mm
Idk how you managed to trigger it at 15mm but thats wrong.
~1.5-2mm is typical/safe
as far as I remember, it was impossible to have it closer to the bed with a Volcano on EVA2. I already pushed the probe as far down while still being held.
pretty sure EVA2 already had volcano 8mm probe mounts
as a mod at least
perhaps, I exaggerated a bit. that is how it was until the accident

there is only one option for each probe size
EVA - Inductive
EVA 2 - 3D printer carriage platform
well thats not 15mm be hard to just elongate the probe part
or maybe consider upgrading to eva3
yeah, I am planning it when I will be able to print it :))
is there anything I can do to ensure my new heatbreak is not destroyed again?
modify the probe holder
so that the probe is holding is safe and secure
I assume what happened is that your probe sits barely in the current one and maybe in a print some filament curling up crashed into the probe.
would be enough to move it a bit sideways to change the offset
so a better probe holder that holds more of the probe further down would be a good step to verify that the probe wont move.
then you should be able to dial in a new offset with the probe being 1.5-2mm of the bed
hm.. I will check. Although, with current mount I am not able to ensure it. I guess I will try to print a longer mount as soon as I can. And then progress towards EVA3
