@everyone News! News! News! Long awaited feature is getting to alpha testing stage! Over the past few months, we’ve been testing a price-per-result model (PPR) on several of our own Actors (Indeed Scraper: https://apify.com/misceres/indeed-scraper, Tiktok Profile Scraper: https://apify.com/clockworks/tiktok-profile-scraper, Facebook Hashtag Scraper: https://apify.com/apify/facebook-hashtag-scraper) and now we would like to invite you to join the pack. Instead of the usual monthly rental payment, you can now charge your users based on the number of results they get in their datasets. How much? Well, it depends on you really, with only one rule: the final number should be higher than your Actor’s platform consumption. For a guesstimate, we are currently pricing most of our PPR Actors at $5/1000 results. We do have a few Actors that are more expensive (https://apify.com/alexey/google-lens) and we are planning on some less expensive ones. How does price-per-result work? The usual platform price of the run will be subtracted from your earnings as well as the 20% Apify margin. For example, if you set the price for $5/1000 results, the user will get their 1000 results while consuming $0.5 in platform cost, Apify will get $1 and you will get the remaining $3.5. We will eventually establish safety measures to prevent the price of the Actor getting lower than the actual consumption. If that case takes place, you will not be charged extra platform usage at any point (unless you abuse the mechanism). So for now, the worst case scenario for you here is getting nothing. 👇 Continue 👇

What are the advantages? For you the main advantage is better money with an added API bonus: it will be easier to include external paid APIs (such as OpenAI’s in our case: https://apify.com/drobnikj/gpt-scraper) directly into your code. So even a solution that previously wasn’t a good fit for paid Actor can now be published and monetized. For the user, the pay-per-result model is much easier to understand and go for which is a big win in our struggle with expanding our customer base. For us, the use of our great platform increases - which is always a pleasant bonus. Besides, we receive the 20% share from your revenue. Seems to be a win-win-win situation. By the end of June, we are planning on bringing 5-10 Actors from community developers into the Price Per Result model. So if you're up to being one of them, let us know.

sent an email asking for details on the changes that are going to be needed on the current Actors (if any). To be more specific: 1. how are the results counted?, 2. is this something apify will take care of? do we need to implement a counting mechanism within the Actor?, 3. what is a record in this context? (a json with 6 properties populated by an Actor is a single record, or six records?... I hope these questions make sense.
