Cannot launch Rocket League
So I've updated everything, Heroic is on 2.8.0, I've force updated RL to its latest patch but every time I start the game it just starts the opening process, the RL picture shows in the taskbar and after 3-4 seconds just shuts off and in the logs it says apparently "Could not determine system info"
Here is the Log:

i have the exact same problem but on SteamOS. It worked fine 2 days ago. Since the latest patch it doesnt work anymore https://pastebin.com/pDM5X6xC
Windows and SteamOS/Linux are fundamentally different. You might be seeing the same symptoms, but the underlying issue is a different one
In your case, please:
- Delete your Wineprefix (
/home/deck/Games/Heroic/Prefixes/Rocket League
)
- Download the latest version of Wine-GE from Heroic's Wine Manager
- Select Wine-GE as your Wine Version in the game settings & enable the DXVK toggle (which only appears once you've selected Wine-GE)
If this does not end up solving the issue, please open up a new thread with a new game log
You might want to try running the game's executable (D:\rocketleague\Binaries\Win64\RocketLeague.exe
) directly. I haven't looked into why this happens yet, but Windows seems to like to hide "Missing DLL" errors when launching executables via Heroic, while showing them when simply double-clicking the file in questionpassive-yellowOP•2y ago
I have launched the game like that and it opened only to show a black screen now instead of nothing and then shutting off 10 secs later
@CommandMC Tried once again, force updated but didn't need then launched in the heroic client, didn't work and then as you said manually the .exe and it shut off same as last time.

Something is definitely very wrong
Could you open up a CMD window, run
msinfo32 /report "%USERPROFILE%\Desktop\msinfo32.txt"
, and send the msinfo32.txt
file that's now on your Desktop into this channel?passive-yellowOP•2y ago
I got an error at the end of the compiling saying "system cannot find that file" something along those lines
Hmm, you should also be able to open up msinfo32 (either search for it in the Start Menu or run
msinfo32
on CMD) and go to "File" -> "Export" (in the top-left) to get the same infopassive-yellowOP•2y ago
Nope the "system cannot find the path specified"
exporting manually rn

here
- Is this a regular installation of Windows 10 Home?
- Have you tried verifying your game files (in Heroic -> Game Page -> 3-dot menu at the top-right -> Verify and Repair)
- Have you tried verifying your system files (see https://github.com/24HourSupport/Wiki/blob/main/rescuecommands.md)

1. Yes, it came originally with this laptop however I had some issues 2 weeks ago with the annoying windows update automatically trying to update my Windows to 11 which I didn't click or agree with and then I had to screw around with it a little bit to delete the installed w11 files and stop updates
2. I've tried it multiple times and I'm pretty sure its broken for the last 2 months, I didnt even wanna bring it up but basically I click it, it says repairing and I leave the laptop on for like an hour and its still sitting on repairing.
3. No but i could look at it
I've read a little bit about the automator thing, I'll do it later cause I gotta get off now
@CommandMC A bit late but I've done the automator repair, found no issues restarted the pc but it still doesn't launch rocket league
Idk hopefully next heroic update somehow fixes this weird problem
Hm, this doesn't sound like an issue we can fix on Heroic's side, since the game also doesn't launch when you're running it manually
- There should be some game logs in
C:\Users\YourUsername\Documents\My Games\Rocket League\TAGame\Logs
, those might give a clue as to what's happening here
- One odd thing in the msinfo32 report is that only your dGPU (RTX 3060) is showing up in the GPU list, there should also be an AMD GPU somewhere there (as that's what your CPU comes with, and unless you have a MUX switch it'll always drive the display). This might be related to the issue, as the game might try to talk to your seemingly missing iGPU, fails, and then doesn't start
On the Repair issue: Could you open up a CMD window and run the following commands:
Those commands will run the repair manually, meaning a potential issue is much easier to spotpassive-yellowOP•2y ago
1. There's 4 different log files i'm not sure which one is the most important one but i'll upload the one with specifically said critical error
2. Yes I do have a mux switch
I'm running the manual repair rn and apparently found 25 corrupted files so I'm redownloading about 5gigs rn

Yup your files are corrupted, repairing the game should resolve the issue
You might also want to check the health of your hard drive (if the game was working before), files don't just corrupt by themselvespassive-yellowOP•2y ago
The problem is the repair option on heroic hasn't been working for me for a solid couple months now, I tried it like 15 times by now and every time its just indefinitely repairing so idk
Not sure why that's happening to be honest, Heroic just runs those two commands you now ran yourself
passive-yellowOP•2y ago
Yeah, could it be possible that the file size needed to redownload was simply too large cause right now its downloading 5 gigabytes and idk how its possible for that much to be missing or corrupted
Well, if your drive is indeed dying, all of the data on there can get corrupted at any moment
Which is why I'd recommend verifying that that's not happening right now. If you don't know how to do this, start reading at https://old.reddit.com/r/24hoursupport/wiki/drivehealth#wiki_i_can_boot_into_my_os_and_it.27s_stable (TLDR: Download HDTune, select your D: drive, go to the "Error Scan" tab and start it)

Thanks, I checked and its fine thankfully

So just to update, the issue is fixed and the game works now but something will probably break next patch as it has for the last half a year so at that point I'll just reinstall heroic as a whole because feature like repair is weirdly broken still.
