Having really odd memory issues with shaders enabled

I'm having a really bizarre issue with iris, and I've been trying to find the cause of this issue for a week.

When I have iris disabled, my RAM usage sits around ~13 GB, even when in creative and generating new chunks. However, if I enable shaders, after a few minutes my RAM usage continually rises until I disable shaders. I've found some github issues that are similar to what I am experiencing:
https://github.com/IrisShaders/Iris/issues/1862
https://github.com/IrisShaders/Iris/issues/1862

My GPU temps are ~50C, it's not an overheat issue. VRAM hovers around 80%, so it's not my GPU running out of VRAM.

This issue does not occur if I have iris disabled, it only happens when I have shaders enabled. I've tried using different shaders, that did not help. Completely out of ideas here.

What happened? After a period of playing with shaders, my fps starts to drop constantly creating instability, becoming unplayable, restarting seems to "solve" the problem temporarily, but...
