toasts vs banner notifications for forms
or anything in general. I found this thread https://ux.stackexchange.com/questions/91406/what-is-the-difference-between-alert-notification-banner-and-toast-message but am still a bit confused as to when it's more appropriate to use one vs the other. I'm personally partial to error messages close to the fields that caused them over toasts which would just be an error soup crammed into a single box. This makes me think that toasts don't really have a meaningful role. I suppose toasts are good for success messages for a particular operation?

What is the difference between alert, notification banner and toast...
Is there is any difference between alert, notification banner and toast message, When it should be used, under what condition and scenario. In which component does the below image will suit?

I definetly agree with your point on receiving the error at the responsible field. I'd say toasts are good for success messages or errors not related to a fault of the user. A connection error for example.
If you have a super long form where the entire thing isn't visible on screen at once it can also be nice to use a toast to notify the user that one or multiple errors has occured, prompting them to scroll up
