no valid installation of paradox launcher
Heya, trying to install and play Stellaris from GOG using the heroic launcher. It installs and seems to launch fine, but then I get an error that there is no valid installation of the paradox launcher.
I tried downloadijg the PDX launcher from their website but it doesn't give me anything installable, just a debian-binary text file and control tar.gz and data.tar.gz
Any ideas?

I’d suggest using the Windows build of the game. GOG linux games have a bad history of being frozen in time or calling for dependencies you cannot install

How would I install the windows build? Does heroic give that option?
sensitive-blue•2y ago
Yes, heroic does provide the option when you first attempt to install a game. Select the windows icon

But then would I be able to play the game on the deck? because isn't it an arch build of linux?
sensitive-blue•2y ago
That’s what Wine-GE is for
The bulk of gaming on Linux is actually using wine and Proton to run Windows builds on Linux

try giving heroic access to
~/.paradoxlauncher
in Flatseal @Doom
native build should work thenadverse-sapphireOP•2y ago
Got the launcher to install by using the windows installation
Logged in, but when I hit play, I get a black screen and then ctd
Hang on, might be working now. I changed the proton version
So, it looks like, so far, the solution is to install the windows version to make it past the PDX launcher and then run proton 8
