I have changed the grip type to winwing and plugged in my adapter but it doesn't seem to pick up the grip that is plugged in, I tried applying, store, unplug USB, plug back in, power up etc, but not seeing a result ?
could it be the earth shield ? ring around the outside of the socket might benefit being crimped ever so slightly under pressure ?? the socket is quite loose compared to the others ?
I disassembled the adapter, so I could see how it was fitting the grip plug inside .......the adapter doesn't grip the socket tightly enough, so the connection only connects when you constantly apply some force to the 2 parts to hold them together, unlike the other end of the adapter which stays connected to the other end naturally.
your observation of the 2 parts needing to be firmly seated was entirely correct, just the socket for some reason don't hold the parts together to maintain that connection
Those circular female pins are probably in too deep, I've found it's possible to push them into the connector with a soldering iron. But if you're not up to tinkering I can mail you a new inner part
