Polos/casual shirts tucked or untucked for business/smart casual?

I just started working in an office after being remote and got some polos and casual shirts for variety. They fit alright but they are meant to be worn untucked. I think I would like the look for polos tucked in slightly better w/ a good belt and chinos, but for casual shirts I think untucked would still be okay for business casual. Any takes?

It's what you want here. Business casual can go either way, and the entire outfit matters. The chinos can work the same/similar in both situations. I lean towards untucked for polos, but there are a few I tuck. One of my favorite spring outfits was doing a monochrome pant/polo look with a contrasting sport coat on top. I usually tucked in there to keep the look neater. The cut of the shirt will matter most. How's it look in either situation? Too short and it untucks itself. Too long and you need to tuck it. Avoiding awkwardness might be the priority.

They look pretty good untucked, I just tried them with a half tuck and that is my favorite look. Fully tucked in I need to get back in the gym for, but they may be just barely too short to stay.

Fully tucked in I need to get back in the gym for,
I was like this for a long time, and while I've lost weight, I'm not where I want to be and used to go untucked as much as possible because of my view of myself. Keeping everything loose/flow-y all the time can add even more size though, and I just had to get comfortable embracing the silhouette sometimes. Experiment with each piece at all angles

Yeah I feel you, I can look decent tucked atm but the pants are the biggest problem. Big butt, hips, and thighs, but super small ankles so the waist is always too loose. Gonna spend all Saturday finding good chinos that fit well, but I'm either going to go slim fit a size up and get the waist taken in or some athletic fit if it isn't too loose.

The old "rule" is that polos are to be worn untucked. But many people actually wear it tucked, especially when wearing a sport coat or a blazer — including me. It just doesn't feel right to me to wear a sport coat with an untucked shirt/polo. I think wearing a polo is either way casual, so it's up to your taste and your feeling about what's right for you 🙂
