How do you think this jacket works with this shirt? Shirt is J. Press, jacket Universal Works. Looking for a nice casual-formal outfit for my wedding rehearsal dinner, can't seem to nail the right shirt collar style. The shirt fabric is lovely and cozy though

Interesting jacket. Am I seeing artifacts, or are we seeing two breast pockets on it? I'd also ask for a set of better photos: natural light, someone else taking the photo, you upright but relaxed with arms down, front, back, both sides. Right now it looks like one shoulder is like 5 inches higher than the other and there's what looks to be collar gap, possibly because of it. With a BD collar (OCBD shirt, I bet), I would probably either button the top button and wear a tie, or, unbutton both the top and the next button down. Well, that second option may look odd with a 3-button jacket. Maybe consider buttoning only the middle of the three jacket buttons. Right now, your shirt looks like it's buttoned-but-offset, an artifact of you not buttoning the top button but buttoning the button underneath it. (Or consider buttoning none of the jacket buttons.) Overall though, ice blue under navy blue is super classic.

if it's universal works i think that might actually be a work-style jacket a la engineered garments bedford the shirt collar does stand sort of high in a classic ivy way but it's not necessarily bad. i agree that a casual tie would add a lot to the look

thanks both! all very good info and perspective! i'm leaning in the direction of adding a tie. yes, it's a bedford esque jacket: https://universalworks.co.uk/products/universal-works-five-pocket-jacket-in-navy-lord-cotton-linen
