Mid-grey worsted suit - tie pairing.

Nabbed an Anglo Italian suit on Ebay. Mid-grey worsted wool which I plan on wearing for work. I tend to stick to solid coloured ties with some texture like knits, grenadine or shantung. Obvious choice would be navy or burgundy but I'm wondering if a black knit silk or orange shantung would work?

Sure, why not? Quite a bit less conservative than your solid navy and burgundy ties, but both seem fine. A lighter-than-charcoal gray suit is almost a blank canvas for ties. You can go super conservative for business, and you can go quite loud for your 'one bold item', if you will. As long as everything is on point, you can do anything from navy grenadines to orange shantungs and multi-paisleys and so on.

That's what I was thinking. It's in an office where I'm the only tie holdout bar the CEO which for some reason makes me want to do it right even more.

Pocket square?

Very tempted but its crossing a rubicon, I would get comments. It's not really done here. I probably will though, I just got an olive knit from Shibumi and I regret not getting a matching pocket square they had with a print of the Ponte Vecchio
