Fortnite immediately crashes upon launch

I updated to heroic launcher 2.9.1 (windows 10) and after updating fortnite over the weekend, it will not launch. Unreal engine crashes approximately 30 seconds after pressing "play". Clicking "repair game" does not work and is stick in an infinite "repairing..." loop.

it is not possible to reinstall the EOS overlay either. clicking "uninstall" in the hopes of being able to reinstall just deleted the EOS overlay and when I click "install", it returns the same error I pasted above.

I tried downgrading to 2.8.0 of heroic and the game still crashes. and the solution for eos overlay you posted does not work.

that's not supposed to happen that's for linux and you are on windows yikes that is probably one of the sillest bugs I have seen wait a minute legendary checks for XDG_CONFIG_HOME on windows as well?????? yikes this is a mess yeah it shouldn't work that's not how you set env variables on windows

your browser is probably blocking it then you can open the inspect tool and check the console ctrl-shift-I

disabling ublock origin makes the errors go away but no download this is not the first time I was unable to download something from github. I use https://download-directory.github.io/ regularly and that doesn't work here either.

I don't have a github account. heroic is far less bloated than egs and I am not interested in any of the crap egs wants to sell me. I made a github account and downloaded the portable version and fortnite still crashes Is there anything more I can do or should I just give up on using your launcher?
