Agreed. He and his partner have one of the best grips on the intersection between Clothes and Fashion around. It's a brand that genuinely cares about its products making sense season after season and I think the line very cleverly built to reward you for continuing to buy pieces here and there. There's no requirement to "commit" to the look with hero pieces all the time.
I have a bunch of lemaire and it’s all fantastic. I do think they occasionally fall into the trap of making super luxe stuff that’s not at all comfortable or practical to wear (side eyeing the paper leather from this season) but the overall vibe is very well defined

That depends on your financial condition, how much you like it, etc. Personally I wouldn't buy at that price. Uniqlo U has some similar looks and designed by Lemaire, for way cheaper.
I picked up a Lemaire denim jacket for $300 and it was still pricey imo but I absolutely love it and was happy with the purchase

Am I dumb or are Lemaire size charts weird? What is the difference between FR and IT sizing? Does Lemaire just use FR sizing? This is the size chart on their site, and I'd normally consider myself a men's US 40 / IT 50 / US L bordering XL depending on fit/brand. But the size chart is saying a men's S is an IT 50?? That seems... off.
This has to be bugged cause its giving US Women's size numbers instead of mens

yeah lemaire sizing charts arent great, i'm a IT50 and i typically wear a lemaire M, occasionally L

Is precise sizing that much of an issue with Lemaire? I’d argue that their cuts are generous/vibey enough that you’ll be able to make it work within 1 size (and generally favouring the larger of 2 sizes if unsure)
it's not that much of an issue, except i have a hard time trying their stuff on and the 90% of the stuff available 2ndhand (especially from japan) is size 44 or 46. I'll likely end up pulling the trigger on something in size 48, but i attempted to try some stuff on to confirm that last time i was in japan and they had nothing in-store in those sizes to try on 🙂

I'm a medium in tops, 34inch waist/l in trousers, and I tend to find 48/m in tops, 50/l 52/xl in trousers works. I've sized down in tops to a 46 sometimes, but only on stuff thats massive.

I just flipped open my Lemaire book by Magazine B and thought I would share some of my favorite excerpts / samples from interesting sections of the magazine. Sorry for the photo dump
One of the more interesting bits in there for me is hearing Sarah-Linh discuss their design process starting with creating silhouettes first by using older Lemaire pieces, vintage pieces they have found, and test pieces. They mix them together to decide on the silhouettes they want to focus on for the upcoming collection, and then focus on details, individual pieces, color pallette, etc.
I think that is a somewhat well known fact, but for me it is part of why Lemaire seems so connected to the past and to prior collections - the skeleton of it is usually old pieces in general which gives each collection continuity
I also enjoyed seeing their personal archives quite a bit to see what they have found inspirational

It just depends on a bunch of other factors like whether you keep them nicely folded and how often you wear them and whatnot.

Question for anyone with their twisted pants. I’m short, so would 100% need them hemmed. Would that defeat the entire purpose by effectively untwisting them (since they wouldn’t have the full length for the seem to turn)?
You can hem them and the seam would still be turned, it turns for the whole length of the pants.
But I’m not sure why you would want to. They usually look best with stacking or cuffed.
Got it, thanks. Well, I’m quite short (5’4 on a good day). Even when I want to keep cuffs I usually need a bit of a hem otherwise it feels like I’m wearing clown pants. But maybe that’s just my own perception
It's your clothing so you should do whatever makes you happiest when you're wearing it :). I'm 5'9 so maybe you should ignore my advice—I was just projecting what works for me.
You should consider getting the twisted NON-BELTED pants, as they're cropped on models, so they'd probably be normal length for you 🙂

What are folks thoughts on the most versatile colour of twisted pants between the black, espresso, and indigo? I’m still discovering “my” style so I hesitate to define it too strictly.
Some tops I have and love include a chambray work shirt, a very dark brown-almost-navy western denim shirt, light blue ocbds, a brown tweed sports coat, a navy hop sack sports coat and a navy Sashiko lapel less coat that makes me feel like a Jedi.
Ideally the pair I get would style well with all the above while being open to (inevitable) expansion of my wardrobe later. Anyone have guidance?

I have all three colors. First I bought black, then indigo, then espresso.
Keep in mind the espresso is seasonal and even when it comes back it varies from season to season, while black and indigo are basically always around.
Black is def the most versatile for me followed by espresso, although I just got that pair. I don’t wear Indigo a ton because I’m precious about the fabric but it is very nice.
It sounds like a lot of your existing stuff is navy so I would probably steer clear of the indigo to start.

Espresso is nice this year, although obviously a touch bit harder to pair other things with than black
Anything cropped and boxy/loose and flowy seems to work well for me

Lemaire ppl tend to like Auralee a lot I’ve noticed although I’m not a massive fan. Margaret Howell and Studio Nicholson, and Stoffa are all good too.

Actually, this is probably just noobism on my part but it itsnt obvious to me. Can you elaborate more a bit? Naively it seems that black is harder to match because it seems to call for either black or white tops (mostly)?
both my lem pants are twisted workwear so all workwear adjacent things look good I feel like

It looks cool with vintage workwear and surplus stuff
It looks cool with any sort of boxy and flowy 80s and 90s stuff
I do like auralee as well and think it can be quite complementary. The colors are a bit more saturated though

I feel strongly that uniqlo u is a bit misunderstood. Christophe and Sarah-linh from lemaire influence the design direction for the line and a lot of the pieces are designed to be worn with lemaire mainline pieces - so there are often shared colors and even shared silhouettes for pieces to the point where you can literally lay the pieces on top of each other and they match
You lose a lot with the cost cutting and lose some of the magic and romanticism of the lemaire pieces but they are literally designed to go well with lemaire
Okay, that describes my wardrobe pretty well actually when it comes to tops so maybe I could pull off black. Those Colors seems equally at home with brown tho except maybe double drown?

What items are you interested in? Lemaire can be expensive if you're still figuring out your style too. For twisted or twisted belted pants, you can often get them sub200 if you buy second hand
For pleated/wide pants, uniqlo U has some good stuff. It's not as well constructed nor are the silhouettes as sharp but great for getting a feel esp if you're coming from slim/straight pants
I personally got into Lemaire from the outerwear - the db workwear blazers and denim jackets are amazing
For now the twisted pants, maybe shoes and a bag one day. I’m nervous about fakes second hand
I would be surprised if you were able to get authentic twisted belted pants in a popular color for <$200 tbh

I'm not so sure that the pattern of the black ones is exactly the same as the espresso ones. They've been making the black ones with the contrast stitch for a while but that model of espresso twisted belted is from fw24 specifically.
But overall depending on the fabric (and whether it's washed or garment dyed) it will vary a bit, and it also varies from specific pair to specific pair.
I wouldn't worry about the variation that much cuz you can always just tighten the belt.
I have four pairs in XS and they all fit me about the same, there are probably differences within an inch though.
Actually that explains the price differential on Stoy and Ssense, since Lemaire charges more for the black than the brown but it’s reversed for those retailers. Only reason I thought they were this years model is because the model number (pa325) is the same

lemaire prices to me are a bit insane but they are growing globally despite steady price hikes, so what do i know
but the poly isnt a problem at all for me. i cant think of many products theyve made where the poly was there for obvious cost cutting reasons, and some of my favorite lemaire pieces have poly in them. lots of valid reasons to use it
the acrylic on the other hand makes no sense
I don’t really think they’ve increased the poly content. They’ve produced more technical stuff that’s meant to be weatherproof and you do need poly for that, and some of their nicest, most iconic fabrics like dry silk use poly intentionally.
But it’s not like they’re cutting corners with poly blends.

The acrylic is annoying. Especially in the twisted cardigans which I would buy if they weren’t a blend. But I heard that they need to use a blend for structural integrity considering you’re meant to wear that garment all stretched and twisted.
some of the pieces i own are basically reinterpretations of military pieces that originally had poly in them too
But overall I’m still very happy with the quality of the fabrics. Fabric quality has never been an issue with any of the pieces I own.

so far honestly pretty disappointed in the black denim on the twisted workwear. Picks up lint like crazy and the fabric is pilling in the thighs pretty quick, assuming from using shorter staple cotton. Love the cut enough to just go with it though. Espresso denim seems fine though, so maybe just a batch thing

Personally I think the Brown Chine from this season is the best non-black color they've ever done in the wrap. It's really beautiful.

Any of the traditional British makers will have something like that. Vintage Burberry, aquascutum, or grenfell. It’s an overcoat so you can size up for a more voluminous look that Lemaire does

If you mean the twisted denim then I would say thats probably accurate in terms of wearability
I asked them for the weight but they wouldn’t provide it. I’d say it’s similar in weight or maybe a bit lighter than Orslow fatigues. I feel like they will be wearable up to 23ish Celsius - maybe a bit more since they are quite airy

I got the two piece, as per yesterdays waywt. I wasn't as hyped about the cotton pieces in comparison to the wool poly. It was the drape and flow of the wool / silk pieces that really attracted me. Took a shot on the work jacket / twisted denim. Could not love them more. Look so good, so comfortable but built like tanks. The opportunity cost was another EG bedford 2-piece but I'm glad I went this direction. Hits the same vibe for me but with it's own distinct flavour.

Common issue with the piped footwear. The glue can dry out and then crack. A cobbler can reglue them with something stronger and you’ll be good to go.

Most of my lemaire shoes are tts but some people say the mules you need to go one size up
I went up one size aswell. Especially if you want to wear socks. But even without one size up definitely feels much better for me
I’d definitely recommend trying them on if you can or being ready to return because for me they slipped right off my feet no matter what size I wore

I can't say anything conclusive - this is a less common tag style but lemaire did have some inconsistent tagging that they've gotten better about standardizing on recently. I have a shirt that does have this tag style i can compare it to.

I think for me I have really been craving more saturation and natural tones from the last few seasons. They have had some of this in their collections still but much less that made its way onto the runway.

I have really enjoyed some of the bigger workwear pieces they did in ss25 and would like to see them build on some of those pieces as well

It's the biggest thing holding me back from owning more of them, and I would even be willing to pay a higher price for better construction (although I'm not sure I should have to given where they are already priced)
I actually have been pretty surprised with how great the technical gear actually is
I have a much older lemaire technical rain parka with the shoulder straps that I love and picked up for like $100 at a 2nd street

Much warmer color pallette with beautiful reds, magentas, browns - some of the great classic lemaire tonal color looks in new colors.
A lot of 70s inspired suiting and shirts with wide collars over blazers. Long blazers and shorter coats.
More flowy and light than I'm used to, especially so on the women's line where things

There was some suggestion of this via the styling—sleeved shirts-over-longer jerseys, casual hooded tops worn with wider relaxed fit pants, and gua sha forks as pendant necklaces (multi-task your facial massage with your jewelry!)......
Musings aside, this collection made clear that Lemaire is not an ascetic aesthetic. Constancy might be its calling card, yet this season felt more open and expressive—with color (soft grayish blue, darker rose, deep crimson, and the bright poppy red of a single bag), fabric (lace, definitely not a regular occurrence) and prints (nods to the estimable trio of Picabia, Tinguely, and Dalí—just not easy to make out from the runway).
The designers pushed the limits of their comfort zone with looks that showed a lot more leg: a great crinkled leather, knee-length skirt worn with a blazer and a pair of mesh sock-sandal heels, or else silky culottes that gave baggy drawers a sensual spin. Airy skirt panels flowing beneath parkas felt less intuitive, but also something a Parisian cool girl would be keen to try.
A live percussion performance by Valentina Magaletti gave the impression that everyone walking in this show (as always, admirably representational casting) had somewhere to be—especially the man and woman in near-identical denim outfits, their bolo ties swinging in sync. Lemaire noted that he and Tran wanted to make a collection that felt “awakened.” He explained, “We feel today, more than ever, we have to be awakened and vertical.” New Age or not, leave it to Lemaire to land on such an energizing idea.

I would suspect you may be a size or two up from a 36. My partner is an xs in women's tops usually and floats around that for lemaire shirts. I'm a 48/50 in lemaire tops and think I would be closer to a 42/44 in a women's shirt
The shoulders, and in turn sleeve length, tend to be the issue

Well, let the measurements guide you here! Guess it depends on how relaxed you want it fitting, that's the hardest part with lemaire sizing. I have a few things that are way larger than I would normally wear in pure measurements but they are designed to be oversized
The measurements do definitely look generous
I feel like ive seen 38=s and 40=m when ive seen men wear the womens stuff. Obviously depends on height but it feels potentially workable especially if happy with a s equivalent
So here’s the jacket, I love the shape but I’m not sure if maybe it’s too long for me, especially the sleeves
but I also realised that I already have the barbour spey which is very similar in cut and color, so I might want to keep only one of them

Believe me not only TRR. Everyones auth process is bad be it TRR, vestiaire, grailed or whatever you know. Some like Vestiaire know specific stuff well like chanel or something but those „niche“ brands are all wrong. I listed 5 thom browne pieces all bought from mrporter or even vestiaire basically their own stuff and it got rejected. Imagine selling something to me as auth and then rejecting it when I try to upload it again due to it being fake. It’s hilarious. I wouldn’t ever trust those sites if you look for lemaire authentication just ask here. You can reach out to me as well if you want.

It is sort of in an odd middle ground in a lot of ways. It's actually really nicely made with waterproofed cotton and taped seams and feels like a fairly protective jacket. A little stiff feeling maybe though
But it also only subtly feels like it has lemaire design DNA on it imo. The rear pocket is cool and it looks nice and clean, but also looks not unlike some other outdoor short parkas you may be able to find
That said there are some good deals on it at the moment
If you want a super serious parka maybe look elsewhere but if you want something that will keep you dry in the city, looks clean, and the price works out for you at the end of the day, maybe it makes sense
love this shirt from fw24 but i ended up getting the metal embellished shirt as my fun black shirt for this year instead

yeah cuff or long. I tend to wear them cuffed most of the time tbh. But also I know some people have hemmed them depending on height

The twisted belted denim come in letter sizing fwiw, but loosely translates to s = 46EU, m = 48eu, l =50eu
I have a 31" waist and the s fits me exactly, but I can wear the m and just pull the belt tight as well
Disclaimer that as always best to just go off of product measurements esp for waist sizing
