Abercrombie and Fitch

I know they had a huge turnaround a year or two ago. Have picked up numerous essential T-Shirts and 90s straight jeans from them in the last year and am happy with the quality, curious to hear what others think of them as of late

i like the knit polos and i have a camp shrit or two. feels weird buying abercrombie because i was in high school during peak "we dont sell to fat or ugly people" abercrombie but im all for the rebrand back to their roots

didn't they have that whole period where they had a bunch of racist caricatures on their clothes

They sure did. This was back under the old CEO who looked like someone tried to reverse engineer gary busey

definitely due to the stigma when this was the stuff they were selling in the 2000s for their price point I'm not quite sure what sets them apart from the other "ALD-lite" menswear brands right now

order came in, here are my first impressions Essential Tees👍 ---- comfortable, soft. perfect fit: they're a bit longer than most t-shirts, but arent too wide.
(^ I ordered the tall size which is 2" longer than base. I probably didn't even need it, but im fine with that; rather than inch too long than an inch too short.) 7" YPB motionTEK shorts 👍 --- great quality, very comfy, lightweight, feels good. has zipper pockets. 6" Linen Pull-on shorts --- feels premium. comfort is average. slightly thicker than expected. has zippers. (im not sure if im a fan of string shorts in general; they can feel tight or loose depending on how you wear them). i probably wouldn't wear this at the gym. not a bad piece tho, but im on the fence personally. Retro Mesh short 👍 --- It looks great. I absolutely love the light grey/stripe color. Feels comfy. The metal tip on the string is a nice addition, but the string itself is long, slippery and looks messy when tied. Might take the string off, but otherwise perfect. I'm hard to size with shorts. I'm between a M and L. L is comfier, though it makes my legs look big, especially toward my knee. I ordered the 3 shorts in Large, and all feel slightly on the baggy side, though I am in between sizes, in all fairness White performance Long-Sleeve Button-up 👍 ---- Light, comfy, breathable. Could be a workshirt, though i plan to use it as an outershirt too. Measurements are as describe. This shirt doesn't run on the tall side like their t-shirts do; it comes up a bit short on me.

I've been pretty high on Abercrombie lately. BIG +1 to their essential tees, these are my go to tee nowadays. Great quality I also am a big fan of their button through sweater polos and a good alternative to more expensive options

The AF Premium Heavyweight Tees are my favorite tees on the market right now. I like them even more than the LWC 400gsm Rugby Tee that I just got rid of recently.

out of the 3 shorts i mentioned, the Retro Mesh shorts are by far my favorite.
The motiontek shorts are super stretchy, and the linen shorts are firm, the Mesh is the perfect middle ground. Breatheable. Like how it feels. Like the aesthetics. As I said above, all the shorts I tried run big. So unless you intentionally want a baggy fit, I suggest going a size down. Note on the essential tee. It's comfortable, fits great, and looks great, but its not very breathable. Its probably more of a cooler weather shirt.

Are there other ALD-lite brands producing stuff at the same price point? That's where Abercrombie's strength is imo

A few of their shirt jackets rock Might get the sweater version after having purchased a Heavyweight flannel that's hard to wear under winter coats length wise Also eyeing their sweatshirts if they're as comfortable as their hoodies I fell in love with I only see the likes of Reigning Champ being able to beat them

Do you have any experience with GAP hoodies? I tend to like those and wear them regularly so I'm curious on the differences

I'm selling one that was bought too small, but the fit and feel of A&F's is miles better and it's not even close Granted you're into the oversized fit that can be worn in your usual size and the one smaller Perfect if your favorite one is out of stock in either of them during a promotion Their sweatshirt should be the exact same item, but without a hood

That's great to know! Thank you for the insight my friend

I'm in the same boat, wish I made a move earlier. Looks like their newer arrivals are getting restocked though, I just caught a jacket that's back in my size good luck

I can perhaps live without that Elevated Cable Knit Sweater, but the huge popularity of their dark grey sweatshirt is mind blowing Aaand the sweater shirt jacket that seemed to be fine is now gone

Aime Leon Dore. He's asking about brands that make clothes like ALD. Like the H&M crochet shirts are similar to the Rico shirt

Can recommend the 90's straight fit chinos for anyone looking for a substitute for the discontinued Uniqlo ones.

Tried multiple chinos and A&F isn't one of them yet because of their terrible inventory in Canada But boy do I love their jeans, especially the athletic loose version that I copped in one smaller waist size than usual

I tried their 90s loose jeans in store a couple months back (don't see them on the site anymore) and they were really nice. Would cop on sale for sure

I would too if the cut wasn't straight. Some reviews highlighted the tightness of the pants around the thighs While I'm a sucker for light and dark washes, the medium one looks gorgeous
