Help me pick a tie
What type of tie would go with this tweed jacket? I was thinking plain blue and wool. I guess something more shiny and silky would not fit as well?

A knit or grenadine in one of the colors of the jacket would pair quite nicely
Thanks! I just bought a blue woolen knit online, hope it will match well with the blue on the jacket. Maybe brown would work as well?
That would also look pretty great
I'm wearing this with black shoes though, wouldn't that clash?
And do you think a pattern could work or would that be too much?
I'd hesitate to say that you absolutely can't wear a brown tie with black shoes, but if they clash it's more likely that they clash in formality. Are the shoes oxfords, derbies, loafers, etc?
A knit tie with a horizontal stripe could work, as could some foulards. I would just avoid anything too commanding.
I think I'd wear this jacket mostly with black derbies or chelseas
I can see it working. Tweed and black shoes is already clashing from a classic menswear perspective so you might as well embrace it.
But if you're concerned with clashing, then a black knit would do well with integrating the shoes
Alright thank you
I didn't know tweed and black shoes clash, would that not be more the case with brown or greenish tweed rather than grey?
Yeah, but it doesn't really matter these days
I had that jacket I'd rock it with either color.
I have some brown brogues that actually might work as well
In any case thanks a lot for the advice. It's my first tweed, I thrifted it and got it for a really good price so I'm quite happy
I like wool ties more in winter. With this, a maroon or burgundy tie with visual or actual texture (eg, grenadine) would be my favorite.
I like black brogues with tweed myself, if not brown or burgundy.
Yes, I bought this for autumn/winter. Although summer is so cold and rainy here that it might work now. I don't have black brogues yet, but I was eyeing some Church's the other day
