Baldur's Gate III (GOG) Opens to Black Screen

Hi all, been trying to get this game to work after reading others had success with minimal effort on protondb. After installing and selecting bg3_dx11.exe as the executable the game will open to a black screen with the in game hand cursor. At that point I am unable to close the game or do anything. I really have no idea what the issue could be at this point. Would really appreciate some help.

Dont run proton. Run wine-ge-latest. Proton is for steam and games purchased on steam It also doesnt provide useful logs. Best to delete the prefix and launch with wine-ge

Thanks, I just switched back to wine-ge-latest which ends up not opening anything. Here is that log:

Ive never had issue with wine ge on anything. Disable offline mode

Okay I deleted the wine prefix and it gave me a new result, saying I need to install this: https://dotnet.microsoft.com/en-us/download/dotnet/thank-you/runtime-desktop-6.0.21-windows-x64-installer?cid=getdotnetcore Any idea how to do so

Yep you need to install dotnet.. Iirc bg3 also asks to install wine mono when it launches. Install it

Iirc you also need to install one of the d3dcompilers forget which version tho. Might be mentioned in one of the other bg3 threads

How should I go about installing these things? Is it something I do within heroic or in wine generally?

Winetricks generally Bg3 may have a __redist folder if so you can run those installlers using the alternate exe stuff on the heroic game setting page If you dont want to mess about in winetricks

So it's been a few days and @Allora you were correct, I had to go to the redist folder and run that item as an alternate exe. Not sure how to mark this as solved, but happy to do so if told how. Thanks again!
