Anybody know what I should ask my barber for this haircut?

show your barber the reference photos. giving it a name won't be effective because they wouldn't know what it means, most likely. and describing it leaves it too vague. the more angles of the haircut the better.

I think your ability to get that haircut without products will be very dependent on how your natural hair is

Either recs from people you know or find well rated places with instagrams or pics

it only looks good like a month and a half after cutting it 💀
shuvi
shuvi10mo ago
It’s gonna be expensive and fairly higher maintenance For reference I pay $200 for a perm and haircut About every 2 months Maintenance depends on what you get though

i’m trying to stay away from perm cuz it’ll dmg my hair and my hairline is on a thin line

I could do every 3 months and do just a haircut halfway but I drive up to LA for 2 hours for it So not worth doing half when I spend $50 in gas anyway

Littached10mo ago
sheesh i’m tryna get a low maintenance cut one that i would only need to cut every 3 months

I don’t have any particular recommendations, but the reason you need to redo perms is they straighten out overall and the root will grow flat since your natural hair is like that

and like 40 dollar haircut including tip
shuvi
shuvi10mo ago
so just think about that if you want something that you can do less Oops though kinda forgot you don’t want a perm lol when I said that
Littached
Littached10mo ago

Tbh 3 months is a long time to go between haircuts. Unfortunately, hair like yours and mine grow kinda bowly because of how straight it goes lol If you let it grow too long You’ll at least need to trim the sides

noooo i gotta go to great clips then at uni

r u srs it looked hella natural to me damnit do i have to get a perm for my hair to look good
shuvi
shuvi10mo ago
Well the main thing is that a lot of Asian hair grows really straight and flat So it has no natural curvature If you see someone with variation in the curvature of their hair it’s a perm probably lol

i tried some texturizing cream my friend had it did nothing to my hair my friend with already curly hair
shuvi
shuvi10mo ago
I’m not a hair expert or anything though, so if anyone knows better or I said wrong feel free to correct lol Just have kinda started doing more with my hair in the last 2 years

atp i think i’ll just get a two block and pray it doesn’t look like shit i’ve never asked for one honestly i’m ok with styling my hair with a blow dryer i’d rather spend ten minutes every morning than looking like an ugly asshole

Gideo10mo ago
no you don’t have to get a perm, but a $12 cut is going to give you a $12 cut lol. Yeah your hair looks coarse and it’d be straight and heavy. if you’re using any products, you would need a combination of strong products, blow drying, even hair spray if necessary to achieve anything similar
shuvi
shuvi10mo ago
If your budget is limited honestly I don’t think this is terrible, if you just keep it maintained I feel like your money is better spent getting it trimmed every month
Littached
Littached10mo ago
gas or ass if no perm
shuvi
shuvi10mo ago
Just keep the sides and back reasonable
Littached
Littached10mo ago
how easy is it to trim my own hair
shuvi
shuvi10mo ago
I feel like this could be no perm, but you definitely have to use hair wax or something to get this You can’t get volume without any products on Asian hair like this

i think there’s a hair cutter thing in my house somehow somehwre*
shuvi
shuvi10mo ago

Littached
Littached10mo ago

Littached
Littached10mo ago
actually nvm looks like a cut where i have to trim every week yoo waittt a minute it’s a 5$ trim at great clips @shuviten u kinda spittin maybe i just keep my hair like this and just trim every month
shuvi
shuvi10mo ago

i was worried they might fuck up my hair and i pay like 20$ but it’s hella cheap and no way they can fuck it up that bad for a trim i meant like the hair i ahve rn

shuvi10mo ago

U definitely don’t need a perm but a $12 cut is high-risk and you are gonna need some kind of maintenance. I’m decently happy with my hair but it needs a blow dry + product for decent volume I pay $70 for a hair cut every 6 weeks or so - a good perm is pretty expensive as previously mentioned. Getting decent texture in your hair is also not easy

Cheap haircuts look like cheap haircuts like everyone is saying, go to a real hair person and talk to them about what you want, they will know hair better than any of us and will actually be able to give you advice and help you find a haircut that works for you I cut my own hair, it’s possible to do it yourself but you should at the very least find a haircut that works for you with a professional first It is very possible for great clips to fuck up your hair when you go for a trim every 2 weeks or whatever

i get a perm and cut every 6 months cause i’m a freak but i’m always wearing a hat or beanie the last 2 months of it straight asian hair is just tough to style or texturize and i spent too long trying products that took too much time and effort with no great results

source i have had a perm from a korean salon also the easiest solution is dont go to a barber and just go to a salon and then ideally an asian hair salon
