Video playing problem
I'm using iOS 1.73.0 build.113 APP with 1.73.0 server, I got a black screen with sound playing fine when I play videos which saved in Immich server only (not in the phone locally), is it some kind of bug or misconfiguration of my APP/Server?
Please find my ffmpeg settings in attached screenshot.
And I did some tests:
1. on Mac computer: All videos are played fine with Edge for mac, but some old clips(bulk uploaded yesterday with CLI) couldn't be played in Safari, while they are playing no problem in Edge for mac. The videos could be played by Quicktime if I downloaded them to local.
2. on iPhone: The videos exist in both Immich remote and iPhone local could be played correctly in Immich APP but not in Safari browser(iPhone).
3. on iPhone: Those videos exist only in Immich server remotely(deleted from iPhone locally) are not playing correctly(a black screen with sound in the background). No matter a video clip was uploaded lately or long time ago, as long as I delete it from my phone locally, it couldn't be played correctly with Immich iPhone APP, once I downloaded it to local, it works fine.

Can you try reset to default and upload a new video and see if it works on Safari?
ok, give me a moment.
it works like a charm! looks like I got a wrong ffmpeg settings.
but it still doesn't work in the iPhone Safari
How can I re-apply the ffmpeg settings to all my video assets? I don't want to download and then upload them all over again.😆
You can run reconded video
“transcode videos” or “encode clips”?
transcode videos
sorry it is a bit late here 😛
with the default ffmpeg settings I clicked “All” in “transcod videos ”, the process has finished, but there still many old video uploaded through CLI doesn’t work in iPhone APP and Safari for mac (no preblem with Edge for mac)
Hmm strange, if you download those videos then delete them and reupload them, would it help?
yes, that would do.
I’m considering change the transcode policy to “all videos”, what do you think of that?
Edge for mac could play all of them, it seems to be codec problem with the APP and Safari.
yeah that would work
