DNG previews brightness too low and wrong orientation

First thanks for the great work on immich. Just a quick question, the small and large preview on immich for .dng files brightness is too low. heic and png files are fine. The orientation is also wrong in some .dng previews some photos are upside down and oriented sideways. Is this a known issue with fixes? Thanks again for the support

DNG files, like all raw files, are not like other image formats. They need interpretation, and the final view depends heavily on what choices are made by the interpreter We will never be able to match whatever Adobe or first-party raw processors give since there's no 1:1 way of doing it. Every interpretation will be different However, orientation is a different matter

Maybe we can do better than what we currently do, but there will always be a limitation in how far you can take raw files May I ask what camera the DNGs are from?

Thanks. I haven't looked at how we handle raw files but I think we delegate it to a library I'm sure the others can take look as soon as the American time zones wake up 🙂

Colors will be more accurate in the next release, but brightness might still be off. Would you be able to send this DNG file for testing?

Yeah, basically what I expected. The white balance is good now but brightness is still a lot darker than it should be.

looks like the left image is the HDR "JPG" produced by the iphone that is probably embedded in the DNG. Not sure if immich would be able to use this embedded preview. I don't think it's a developed/interpreted RAW because no raw developer would brighten up the shadows that much on its own.
