Vintage store: 10 foot Single by Stella Dallas
Wide, fun selection and generally accurate sizing. They have a ton of military gear in a range of sizes, I got some great fatigue shorts there.
Bar with mood:
KGB bar has a fun vibe, check out the Kraine Theatre below it and try to go see the recurring show Infinite Wrench.
I’ve bought something pretty much every time I’ve gone into 10 ft single
Crowley vintage rules if you like vintage menswear. It's open on Saturdays. If you're in the upper west side I've had really good luck at st francis thrift on 97th and amsterdam - it's tiny, hit or miss, genuinely cheap, and full of the kinda stuff you'd expect old uptown churchgoers to donate.
Fair warning the entrance to Crowley is extremely hard to find
Same! I was in NYC visiting a friend, went there twice and bought something both times.
Here's what I got there
what part of the city will you be staying in/spending the most time?
Food wise - there are a ton of veg/vegan options but here are some I’ve been to/have been recommended:
Very fresh noodles in Chelsea market does vegan dan dan noodles (really spicy)
Screamers and Paulie gee’s for pizza
Orchard grocer has incredible breakfast sandwiches
I’ve heard bodhi and spicy moon are good options for Chinese food
Planta if you’re looking for something fancier
Spicy moon rules
Ugh I need to make another trip out to nyc!
North - Center of Brooklyn
Thanks guys for all those advices 👏👏👏
Lady M bakery makes crêpe cakes
If you like Italian, go to Bamonte’s in Williamsburg
Don’t go to Peter Luger steakhouse , it has gone down the drain
cool shirt
If you’re looking at vegan I like Colleta and Cadence
my favorite bar in the city is Owl Farm. very chill park slope bar with an amazing beer selection, decent prices, and although they don't food, they're usually chill if you bring your own food in. also! 5ive Spice is awesome vietnamese food near Atlantic Ave depending on where you're staying, great vegetarian options
crowley vintage looks cool but the owner comes off like a complete loser responding to google maps reviews
Ottos Shrunken Head for drinks
He's nice in person & I messaged him on insta once to check if he had a particular size in store and he answered quickly and kindly!
Sidenote, my (excellent) local Lebanese place is run by a guy who also leaves dumb responses to bad google reviews. He comes across as the biggest asshole in those. But his place is a neighborhood institution with the best service around, lol. It's a thing sometimes ig!
Seconding this, a bit pricey but Cadence is some of the best vegan food I've had. The group that runs it (https://www.overthrowhospitality.com/) has other good places (Soda Club and Ladybird I'd also recommend) but Cadence stands head and shoulders above the rest.
Overthrow Hospitality

Tokio7 is my favorite clothing store in the city. Defintely leans pretty fashion-y but worth going even if you don't buy anything imo. A friend once described it as "a museum of beautiful objects".
My favorite place just to walk around and hang out is SoHo/Chinatown. Partially just due to nostalgia I'll admit, but I do feel like you get a slice of so much of what NY is in so little space.
Oh also my favorite actual museum is the Noguchi museum in Queens. The whole place was designed by him and built just to house his work so it has this cohesive vibe that's really amazing and unique.
Thanks everyone for those great recommmendations ! We've found a place in Williamsburg ☀️
