Mirror's Edge not running
I'm trying to run Mirror's Edge from GOG through Heroic. I tried using valve's proton, that did nothing so I tried Wine-Wine-GE-Latest and Wine-GE-Proton7-17. That gives me error with microsoft edge. Did anyone have the same issue? Can someone help me?

Can you send the full wine log
Rather than just the crash
Please use wine-ge-latest

Looks like the Nvidia driver is not installed properly
And its also not updated
stormy-goldOP•2y ago
my nvidia driver? (local)
vicious-gold•2y ago
Ye
There's 2 Nvidia drivers
One for flatpak
One for the system
The flatpak one is outdated
stormy-goldOP•2y ago
oh, I didn't know that
vicious-gold•2y ago
flatpak update
should update the driver
Then you have to uninstall the old onesstormy-goldOP•2y ago
that's all it updated

vicious-gold•2y ago
Check
flatpak list
stormy-goldOP•2y ago
so I need to remove the 525 and 535 bottom drivers

vicious-gold•2y ago
Remove 525 only
xenial-black•2y ago
ah, PhysX
managed to spawn a window
crashes on loading though
stormy-goldOP•2y ago
I still crash
after removing the drivers
did you have to manually disable PhysX?
xenial-black•2y ago
yes
stormy-goldOP•2y ago
tbh I kinda feel like trying to refund the game and buy it on steam when it gets on sale sice this is taking a bit too much time + I can't really find anyone with similar problems on forums ect...
xenial-black•2y ago
install physx in winetricks
the game should work
as it's verified on Lutris site too
stormy-goldOP•2y ago
I already did that, it's still not working
vicious-gold•2y ago
You still have 535 installed right
Send another log
stormy-goldOP•2y ago
yuh
vicious-gold•2y ago
You don't have a driver installed
Dxvk is not able to init
@0tep :3
stormy-goldOP•2y ago
like nvidia?
xenial-black•2y ago
yes, nvidia driver
what distro do you use?
stormy-goldOP•2y ago
ubuntu stable
I still see the driver in flatpak list
xenial-black•2y ago
run this in terminal
sudo apt install -y nvidia-driver-535
in my case it refused to run because I use unstable downloader, installing physx is all you need assuming the driver is installed properlystormy-goldOP•2y ago
did this, got Black screen
when rebooted my second monitor refuses to function
xenial-black•2y ago
aight, make sure 32 bit support is also enabled
sudo dpkg --add-architecture i386 && sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade
vicious-gold•2y ago
No they are missing the flatpak driver
@0tep :3
flatpak install nvidia-535
xenial-black•2y ago
it was installed
vicious-gold•2y ago
Wut
Why is it using llvmpipe then
xenial-black•2y ago
GL32 was not
vicious-gold•2y ago
Oh
xenial-black•2y ago
which indicates 535 wasn't installed in the distro
stormy-goldOP•2y ago
rn my problem is that system does not see my wifi card
stormy-goldOP•2y ago
got the monitor working but... also im on laptop

xenial-black•2y ago
interesting
stormy-goldOP•2y ago
happened while switching graphics drivers
vicious-gold•2y ago
What distro is this
Which wifi adapter
stormy-goldOP•2y ago
Ubuntu 22.04.3
it came with the laptop it's connected to the motherboard in the body of the ntbook
vicious-gold•2y ago
lsusb
To check the model
How old is ur laptop btw
stormy-goldOP•2y ago
abt 3 years
vicious-gold•2y ago
Lts Ubuntu should be ok then
stormy-goldOP•2y ago

vicious-gold•2y ago
Realtek 💀💀
Ur screwed
stormy-goldOP•2y ago
??
vicious-gold•2y ago
Their Linux support is trash
stormy-goldOP•2y ago
So is there smth I can do?
vicious-gold•2y ago
I would try to update the kernel and firmware to latest available versions
Maybe Ubuntu 23.04 could help
Oh it wont
stormy-goldOP•2y ago
aka reinstall system?
vicious-gold•2y ago
It's on 6.2 as well
Damn
No
You can upgrade in place
I guess not, ur only solution is to reboot I guess
It should start working again after that
stormy-goldOP•2y ago
I tried rebooting seval times
vicious-gold•2y ago
Welcome to the realtek curse
Ok anyways I would try a different distro
stormy-goldOP•2y ago
could physical unplugging and plugging it in help?
vicious-gold•2y ago
So you still have windows?
stormy-goldOP•2y ago
nah
vicious-gold•2y ago
That's probably not the issue unless you dropped it
At some point in the last 30 minutes
stormy-goldOP•2y ago
I didn't move it for few days so...
vicious-gold•2y ago
Yeah
Software issue
Maybe try a endeavor os live usb
stormy-goldOP•2y ago
I still have Ubuntu boot drive tho
vicious-gold•2y ago
It worked before you installed the i386 packages right?
stormy-goldOP•2y ago
it stopped working after I installed the nvidia thing
stormy-goldOP•2y ago

vicious-gold•2y ago
Ok this is just Ubuntu being weird and breaking itself
Try fedora 38 or something
stormy-goldOP•2y ago
could Debian work?
vicious-gold•2y ago
Or nobara
Yes but its debian
You are gonna have more problems
With other things
stormy-goldOP•2y ago
oh ok
vicious-gold•2y ago
Main issue with debian is that everyone else will get an update and you will get that update 3 years later in the next debian release
stormy-goldOP•2y ago
but i heard Fedora is eaven harder to use
vicious-gold•2y ago
If you are planning on gaming I definitely recommend nobara
That's bs
Like no joke
I didn't type a single command in fedora and it worked for gaming really well
Make sure you either use gnome x11 or kde
Don't use gnome Wayland
It's not good for gaming
Pop os is good as well
But it has some issues
stormy-goldOP•2y ago
Also should I use uefi or legacy?
vicious-gold•2y ago
Like the mangohud package being broken (still)
Uefi
Legacy is ancient
stormy-goldOP•2y ago
and secure boot off
vicious-gold•2y ago
Never use legacy unless your hardware doesn't support uefi
Good
You need secure boot off for many distros
stormy-goldOP•2y ago
I'm gonna back up things now but you say I should try nobara
okay, so I moved to nobara, the wifi problem is solved but the game still doesn't launch
xenial-black•2y ago
proper drivers are installed?
stormy-goldOP•2y ago
I think so, I used the nobara nvidia drivers wizard
xenial-black•2y ago
also did you install physx in prefix??
stormy-goldOP•2y ago
I ain't sure what prefix means but I installed it through winetricks
xenial-black•2y ago
okay, then share the log
stormy-goldOP•2y ago
vicious-gold•2y ago
Drivers are all good
Nothing seems wrong to me tho
Could you run with WINEDEBUG=+seh
As the env variable
stormy-goldOP•2y ago
I'll try it on normal fedora because nobara feels kinda weird + I have some issues with wiriting overall looks like better choice with more forums online, that I can use instead of asking myself
vicious-gold•2y ago
Strange reasons but ok
Normal fedora requires more manual set up tho
stormy-goldOP•2y ago
okay, it still does not work, I'm not eaven surprised, but my system at least works (switched to fedora)
xenial-black•2y ago
physx is really all you need
stormy-goldOP•2y ago
so install through winetricks?
xenial-black•2y ago
yes
you may also need physxlegacy
although physx alone is said to work just fine
stormy-goldOP•2y ago
I am pretty sure I downloaded it, tho the logs look exactly the same, also didn't find much documentation for physxlegacy
xenial-black•2y ago
did the game install correctly? aren't there any .tmp files in game directory?
stormy-goldOP•2y ago
no, there aren't, I didn't see any neither did search find any
