What’s up with my Uniqlo chinos?

Hey. Got these on a big discount and planning on getting them hemmed, but while I was measuring I noticed that the front and the back (for want of technical phrases) seem to be misaligned somewhat? Is this a serious defect and something that will cause issues or just a bit of a quirk? I wondered why they weren’t sitting perfectly flat when I was laying them out, and I don’t think any of my other stuff has this so I’m pretty curious… As long as it doesn’t cause any issues I’m not too fussed! FWIW, they’ve been washed once at 30c and line dried.

The misaligned seams in the crotch seems like a significant defect to me Return them

Darn, was hoping that wasn’t going to be the answer - but thanks. This is how they look hanging up, if that makes any difference.

Annoyingly I think they were the last pair of straight fit chinos that they had on their site 😂 thought I’d got v v lucky

Does it affect the fit when they’re on? Because the seams themselves aren’t misaligned; the seam allowance is just topstitched to different sides. If it doesn’t affect how it looks when worn I personally wouldn’t worry too much about it. I doubt it will affect the longevity or durability of the pants.

I don’t think it does affect the fit, no - in at least that it didn’t look off to my eye, and I only noticed it when taking a closer look whilst measuring

This is a pic of the same are inside out - which does make it look a bit less erroneous tbh

Yeah it looks like someone in production just stitched the seam allowance on the back panels the wrong way. I wouldn’t stress about it.

I tried them on again and looked for any fit issues and I couldn’t spot anything so I think I’m just going to get them hemmed and treat it as a quirk - I got them for super cheap and raising a return/getting another item possibly seems a bit excessive in light of that Thanks

I've been sewing for a few years and doing this helps to create a less bulky seam. It's a feature, not a bug.

ok! I stand corrected.

Thanks - super good to know. Appreciate all the replies. Next stop, getting them hemmed 🙌
