Osaka Simulator
I'm trying to get Osaka Simulator (also known as Ayumu Kasuga's Mail Order Life) to run on Steam Deck, but it just gives this error. What should I do to fix it and (hopefully, if possible) get it to boot?

this is still not a full game log
but my guess would be possibly that heroic doesnt have permissions to the game folder, use flat seal to grant it
you probably wont get a full game log out of it since it seems side loaded and that goes through a different path
my other guesses too would be that you dont have dxvk installed in the prefix

Do I need to restart the application or something when I give it permission?
I just gave Heroic permission to all system files, all system libraries, executables and statistic data, all system configurations, and all user files, as well as added the folder I keep all my non-steam games in

yeah the game is sideloaded. it's a fan game for Azumanga Daioh, pretty ancient.

you probably wont get a full game log out of it since it seems side loaded and that goes through a different pathi dont really use flatpak so i cant speak to what to do with flat seal, i would really, just give access to the game folder tho.. you dont really want to open the permissions up like that otherwise and wherever you put the prefix you likely have to install dxvk yourself into the prefix but ive never really tried to play side loaded games, so i dont really know what to do otherwise

I can check what dlls I had to install for audio
you should be able to in heroic settings
I just play it on vanilla wine as a normal program
I know there's a reddit post about this game I used

it's a fork of regular wine
it should work with proton as well
but maybe just not that version
I can test it myself and see
for audio you need dmime, dmsynth, dmusic, dsound, and dswave
you can see if installing those via winetricks does anything
let me try the same proton version you're using
it is working for me on the proton version reported in your logs
could it be flatpak permissions?
my game is just in my users folder

I think the easiest way to discount flatpak being the problem

the vanilla version of wine is availible as a package on arch based distros like steamOS
try sudo pacman -S wine wine-mono

try running the command it says
and then running

it should be sudo pacman -S archlinux-keyring
after running pacman-key --init
pacman-key should be run with sudo

i don't think pacman would have worked anyways cause your repository list is very out of date and i don't think running pacman -Syu would be a very good idea on steamos

On the Deck, you should never need to install wine outside of Steam, Lutris, Heroic or Bottles if your goal is gaming

at the top of the post, they were using wine-ge-latest, but it was a flatpak permissions issue from the beginning

yeah the flatpak part definitely but if it was running using the wrong wine version it could explain the speed issue
although if they were using it in the beginning not sure what chanhed
