Hitman 3 not getting past the launcher.
Gets to the launcher, hit play and nothing, Heroic "PLAYING (STOP)" goes to "PLAY NOW"

pls use wine-ge, not proton-ge
conscious-sapphireOP•2y ago
Switched to wine-ge and still no dice.
conscious-sapphireOP•2y ago
Also, thank you for the very quick reply
deep-jade•2y ago
your nvidia drivers are not installed?
huh
conscious-sapphireOP•2y ago
When I installed the NVIDIA srivers the res was extremely low and the desktop settings wouldn't change
I went back to the open source driver
deep-jade•2y ago
bro nouveau can't reclock your specific GPU beyond the boot clock speeds
which are like 200 mhz
how are you even doing anything right now :husk:
conscious-sapphireOP•2y ago
Played Portal 2 just fine earlier 🤣
deep-jade•2y ago
also what distro are you using
what the hell
im stunned
conscious-sapphireOP•2y ago
Linux Mint 21.x
(I forget the x)
OK, so I should try again with the NVIDIA drivers before doing anything else? I probably missed a restart or something daft
deep-jade•2y ago
yeah definetly
you also have to install them within flatpak
I still can't believe this tho, that's insane
how much FPS and what resolution?
conscious-sapphireOP•2y ago

conscious-sapphireOP•2y ago
1080p, not sure on the FPS
deep-jade•2y ago
yeah go for the top driver
that one is a little broken they should update to 535.104
but it should be good enough
conscious-sapphireOP•2y ago
Applying it now. I appreciate this.
deep-jade•2y ago
ok apparently pascal base clock is like 1000 mhz
that's probably why the game ran pretty well
but damn I didn't know nouveau could run portal 2, that's pretty cool actually
conscious-sapphireOP•2y ago
OK, this is weird again, resolution is set at 1024*768 4:3 and shows no options to change. Slightly off topic but damn odd.
deep-jade•2y ago
maybe try the 525 driver?
it's probably a missing package
conscious-sapphireOP•2y ago
Will do
deep-jade•2y ago
you might need this package ? xserver-xorg-video-nvidia
conscious-sapphireOP•2y ago
Ah, I see what I did wrong with the NVIDIA driver, I hit continue boot on the restart rather than Enroll MOK. I'll put the 535 back on and do it properly this time.
deep-jade•2y ago
so it's a secure boot issue
LMAO
conscious-sapphireOP•2y ago
I'm a hardware engineer, these mistakes are expected 🤣
deep-jade•2y ago
honestly turn it off
it's useless anyway
conscious-sapphireOP•2y ago
Will do. I'll install the driver first
OK, graphics drivers done, desktop looking shiny, wine version wine-wine-ge-proton8-14 and waiting for the launcher to show up.
conscious-sapphireOP•2y ago
Still no joy
deep-jade•2y ago
ok nice
so now one more step
flatpak install nvidia-535
download GL32 and GL 535-104 drivers
@gordy
conscious-sapphireOP•2y ago
OK, just looking now
INstallation complete
deep-jade•2y ago
restart heroic
conscious-sapphireOP•2y ago
Ah nuts, same
deep-jade•2y ago
and you should be good to go
conscious-sapphireOP•2y ago
I'll restart Heroic first 🤣
You sir, are a scholar and a gent.
deep-jade•2y ago
it workd yay
conscious-sapphireOP•2y ago
Just need to set up Piper and my mouse to my old settings (Key Bindings are fun...) and the records will be tumbling
Just going to run a dirty Paris SASO and report back
Kind of weird, it's up and running, load into the level, start running around and get a kill but game freezes on going through a particular door. I think this might be that always online save thing. If so, I'll download Peacock, hopefully RDIL has one that works for Linux.
But the game actually being up and running is huge. Looks better somehow too!
Same door, three times running. Very strange!
I've run out of time for this this evening. But it's crashing pretty quickly after mission starts, different levels and game modes too.
Again, thank you so much for your help. Hopefully can get this sorted next time I'm online.
deep-jade•2y ago
ok you might get mad at me, but maybe proton-ge might help 💀
I think this was one of those games that only runs on proton for some reason
conscious-sapphireOP•2y ago
🤣
I'll give that a try now.
Same door and same crash on Proton-ge-latest, will try proton-ge-proton8-14
deep-jade•2y ago
yeah no need to try
I think it's better to send another log with wine-ge
conscious-sapphireOP•2y ago
ok, 2 secs
A bit awkward, the game freezes and I can't ALT+TAB out, so hitting ALT+F4 to get out.
Keyboard froze too. Lights don't change on NUM LOCK or CAPS LOCK
I'll big button hopefully a log was written

this might be an nvidia driver bug I think
im not sure
conscious-sapphireOP•2y ago
From what I can see in the Peacock server, NVIDIA + Linux + Hitman = a bad time
In game I turned on the Autosave HUD, and going through that particular door triggers the Autosave (always online cloud etc) and that's when the crash hits.
I'll speak to my mates in the peacock server and see what happens
Pretty much got an RTFM. Gotta love the Hitman community... I shall return to this later in the week, again, thank you very much for your help so far. I really appreciate it.
I'm finally back at my PC after having some work done on the house and I may have gone for a nuclear option here: I replaced the GTX 1080 with a RX6700XT...
The GTX isn't going to waste, it'll just be used on my girlfriend's computer. I have to say though, HItman now launches, highest settings across the board and plays smooth as silk. No crashing at the same spot as last time and able to load into multiple levels.
I'll have to give it a more thorough test but, yeah, very happy with that solution, extreme as it may be 🤣
conscious-sapphireOP•2y ago
Looks good.
conscious-sapphireOP•2y ago
@OOOOOF123 OK, been testing this for a day or so and yep, it's working lovely. Graphics are great, gameplay is as I'm used to and with a proper install of OBS (not flatpak) I can record and stream it well too. Thank you ever so much for your help mate. Much appreciated.
